16-Channel Analog <> MADI / ADAT Converter
Product Overview
The Ferrofish Pulse16 MX +24 is an extremely cost-effective AD/DA converter with 16 balanced analog inputs and outputs, 4 ADAT inputs and outputs, and MADI optical inputs and outputs capable of transmitting 64 channels of audio, designed to provide stable and uncompromising performance in professional studios and live performances. In addition to the functions of the Pulse16 MX, the maximum reference level can be set up to +24dBu.
By combining it with a MADI audio interface, it is possible to build a multi-channel recording and playback system such as spatial audio.
By connecting up to four Pulse16 MXs in a chain using MADI, it is also possible to transmit 64 analog inputs and 64 outputs at 48 kHz.
Excellent Sound Quality
The Pulse16 MX +24 supports up to 192 kHz, and features sophisticated analog amplifiers, powerful jitter removal circuits, and high resolution sound quality that is faithful to the original sound at both 48 kHz and 192 kHz. In addition, it uses high-end AD/DA converters to achieve professional quality AD/DA conversion.
Analog & Digital Input/Output
The 1U-sized main unit is equipped with 16 balanced analog inputs and 16 balanced analog outputs. All input and output signals can be monitored from the headphone output on the front panel.
The Pulse16 MX +24 comes standard with a MADI optical multimode terminal, and the Pulse16 MX +24 Single Mode comes standard with a MADI optical singlemode terminal, allowing input and output of up to 64 channels (@48kHz). The four ADAT inputs and outputs support up to 16 channels and are compatible with 96 kHz in SMUX/2 mode.
Word clock for digital synchronization can be sent and received via BNC terminal, ADAT, or MADI.
We also offer the Pulse16 DX +24, which is equipped with Dante input and output.
Digital Format Converter & Router
The Pulse16 MX +24's diverse inputs and outputs function as a very flexible digital format converter and signal router.
Audio signals can be freely converted to all analog and digital formats, and can be output simultaneously in multiple formats in groups of 8 channels.
Ferrofish products can be connected in series to fit a huge number of channels into a surprisingly small rack space.
Intuitive operation and high maintainability
The two TFT screens on the front panel display all the settings for all inputs and outputs, including channel gain, output level, routing, monitoring, and clock, allowing you to visually check the status of each channel. Headphone outputs allow monitoring of single channels, stereo pairs, or submixes, improving reliability and maintainability in the field.
Remote control with RemoteFish
The Pulse16 MX +24 can be remotely controlled in multiple ways, making it an ideal setup for live recording, broadcasting, and facility audio where long distance transmission is required.
Remote control is possible via MIDI and MIDI-over-MADI, including alert messages. The remote control software ""RemoteFish"" can be downloaded for free from the website and can operate all functions such as input/output, monitoring, and routing of multiple Ferrofish devices.

Examples of use
■Recording studio
By combining with a MADI-compatible audio interface, you can introduce a high-quality multi-channel system with high cost performance. Signals from microphone preamps, etc. can be received via ADAT line and recorded/played via MADI. Equipped with sufficient analog input/output for individual send/return to outboard effects. Since each MADI line supports transmission of 64 channels at 48 kHz, it is also possible to connect four Pulse16 MX +24s.
■Immersive-compatible studio
Many Ferrofish AD/DA converters are used in immersive-compatible studios, which have been introduced more and more in recent years. The main DAW machine can be connected with an audio interface that supports Dante or MADI. It is equipped with a sufficient number of channels to support Dolby Atmos, Sony 360 Realty Audio, and Auro 3D. By installing two Pulse16 MX +24 units, it can be used as a 32-channel AD/DA converter that also supports the NHK 22.2 format.
■Live recording
By combining it with a MADI-compatible audio interface, you can build a high-quality live recording system. The Pulse16 MX +24 receives analog or MADI signals from the PA, receives additional ambience microphone inputs from the preamp via ADAT, and uses the internal matrix function of the Pulse16 MX +24 to transmit them all together to the MADI line, making it a reliable system in venues with a variety of situations.
■Immersive-compatible streaming
The Pulse16 MX +24 can be used at events and recording sites where an immersive monitoring environment is set up at sporting venues, etc., to introduce a high-quality multi-channel system with high cost performance. MADI optical can transmit 64 channels of audio signals up to 2000m per system. Immersive monitoring is possible at the event venue, including the MC microphone signal. The abundant analog output can be used to send a mixdown to a separate streaming distribution from the venue.
