16-Channel Analog <> Dante / MADI / ADAT Converter
Product Overview
The Ferrofish Pulse16 DX +24 is an extremely cost-effective AD/DA converter designed to provide stable, uncompromising performance in professional studios and live performance environments, with 16 balanced analog inputs and outputs, 4 ADAT inputs and outputs, MADI optical inputs and outputs capable of transmitting 64 channels of audio, and Dante audio network inputs and outputs (2 x RJ45). In addition to the functions of the Pulse16 DX, the maximum reference level can be set up to +24dBu.
By combining it with a MADI audio interface, it is possible to build a multi-channel recording and playback system such as spatial audio.
It integrates 16 analog inputs and outputs into a Dante network, and can also be used as a format converter between ADAT, MADI, and Dante digital interfaces.
Excellent Sound Quality
The Pulse16 DX +24 supports up to 192 kHz, and in addition to sophisticated analog amplifiers and powerful jitter removal circuits, it delivers high resolution and faithful sound quality at both 48 kHz and 192 kHz. It also uses high-end AD/DA converters to achieve professional quality ADDA conversion.
Analog & Digital Input/Output
The 1U-sized unit is equipped with 16 balanced analog inputs and 16 balanced analog outputs. All input and output signals can be monitored from the headphone output on the front panel.
The Pulse16 DX +24 comes standard with a MADI optical multimode terminal, and the Pulse16 DX +24 Single Mode comes standard with a MADI optical singlemode terminal, allowing input and output of up to 64 channels (@48kHz). The four ADAT inputs and outputs support up to 16 channels and are compatible with 96 kHz in SMUX/2 mode.
The Dante network has two redundant terminals, allowing 64 channels of input and output at 48 kHz.
Word clock for digital synchronization can be sent and received via BNC terminals, ADAT, MADI, or Dante.
Digital Format Converter & Router
The Pulse16 DX +24's diverse inputs and outputs function as a very flexible digital format converter and signal router.
Audio signals can be freely converted to all analog and digital formats, and can be output simultaneously in multiple formats in groups of 8 channels.
Ferrofish products can be connected in series to fit a huge number of channels into a surprisingly small rack space.
Intuitive operation and high maintainability
The two TFT screens on the front panel display all the settings for all inputs and outputs, including channel gain, output level, routing, monitoring, and clock, allowing you to visually check the status of each channel. The headphone output allows monitoring of single channels, stereo pairs, or submixes, improving reliability and maintainability in the field.
Remote control with RemoteFish
The Pulse16 DX +24 can be remotely controlled in multiple ways, making it an ideal setup for live recording, broadcasting, and facility audio where long distance transmission is required.
Remote control is possible via MIDI and MIDI-over-MADI, including alert messages. The remote control software ""RemoteFish"" can be downloaded for free from the website and can operate all functions such as input/output, monitoring, and routing of multiple Ferrofish devices.

Examples
■Recording studio
In a studio system centered on the Dante network, each Dante device is connected in a star connection centered on a switching hub, and the Pulse16 DX +24 serves as an AD/DA front end to outboard equipment and monitors with high cost performance. In addition, the Pulse16 DX +24 also supports a DD converter function that converts ADAT/MADI signals to Dante lines, 16 analog inputs and outputs, and remote control via Dante lines.
■Immersive-compatible studios
In recent years, the number of immersive-compatible studios that are being introduced has increased, and many Ferrofish AD/DA converters are used. The main DAW machine can be connected with an audio interface that supports Dante or MADI. By connecting a Dante-equipped console via a switching hub, it can be used as a high-quality AD/DA converter in the monitoring environment of an immersive studio.
■Live recording
By connecting the Pulse16 DX +24 to a live PA system equipped with Dante, it is possible to receive signals from FOH and stage boxes via Dante lines. Ambience microphones can be received by ADAT-equipped microphone preamps, and up to 64 channels can be transmitted together on a single MADI line with one unit. The abundant analog line inputs allow signals from devices without digital outputs to be combined.
