It is equipped with three high-precision VCOs, and by modulating the first VCO with the second and third VCOs, it is possible to create waveforms with very complex harmonic structures, and also to separate the three to create chords.

Trident is a 100% analog triple oscillator module with unique Zing modulation for dynamic timbral changes.

In a nutshell, Trident is a module with three high-precision audio VCOs, each with various independent CV inputs.

The first oscillator, called the main or ""carrier"", outputs three waveforms simultaneously. The remaining two oscillators are modulation oscillators, each of which outputs one of three waveforms. The modulation oscillators have a CV symmetry parameter, which allows you to change the duty ratio of the triangle wave to smoothly change from a descending sawtooth wave to an ascending sawtooth wave, or even to bend the diagonal part of the sawtooth wave left and right for more complex waveform changes. Of course, when the pulse wave is selected, you can also control the pulse width.

Each oscillator can be used independently if necessary, but it is by using them in combination that the magic happens. The magic is Trident's unique ""Zing Modulation"". Each modulation oscillator can modulate each carrier output by an amount controlled by the Zing parameter. Zing modulation is mathematically similar to ring modulation, but by syncing the oscillators (when the oscillator's Sync button is on), the sum and difference sidetones of the frequencies of the ring modulation are transformed into a complex pure harmonic spectrum. This can result in dynamic and dramatic changes to the sound, whether you use the modulation oscillator's frequency modulation or waveshape modulation.

If the modulation oscillator is set to track the carrier oscillator, the waveform remains constant as the carrier frequency changes. The harmonic structure in this case is determined by the modulation oscillator's settings and CV modulation. If the modulation oscillator does not track the carrier oscillator instead, some of the harmonic structure will change relative to the carrier frequency.

Each modulation oscillator can be independently synced to or tracked by the main carrier oscillator.
