Based on analysis of the spectral content of the input signal, it drives an oscillator bank of up to 33 oscillators to generate and transform sounds.
Panharmonium is an oscillator module that generates sound from an analysis of the spectral content of any audio signal. Developed by Bob Bliss, software designer at Rossum Electro-music (also the creator of the EOS operation system found on the E-MU sampler), Panharmonium is an innovation that creates sound in unprecedented ways. module.

The input audio signal is analyzed by the built-in spectrum analyzer, and based on the analysis results, it drives an oscillator bank consisting of up to 33 oscillators to generate sound. Panharmonium can accurately reproduce the input spectrum in real time according to various control settings. You can also modify it in a very unique way. Create interaction with performance through an intuitive interface.

Panharmonium's input can be anything from a single oscillator to a mix with vocals. From dense undulating pads and drones that change as the input spectrum changes, to clock-synchronizable spectral arpeggiations, and as-yet-unnamed harmonic effects, Panharmonium is a whole new world of sounds. open up possibilities.

Panharmonium can also create a snapshot of the spectrum at a moment in time and use it as a complex harmonic oscillator. You can modify and adjust this with all other Panharmonium controls.

Panharmonium creates magical effects through the combination of functional sub-modules.

spectrum analyzer
A spectrum analyzer is a tool for defining the analysis process.

The SLICE parameter sets the rate at which the incoming audio signal is converted to spectral data. It can be configured with SLICE and MULTIPLIER controls, a TAP button, and an external clock signal. Very short SLICE settings give real-time spectral data, while long settings create rhythmic spectral patterns.

The CENTER FREQ and BANDWIDTH controls (and associated CV inputs and attenuators) control the range of frequencies analyzed. The BANDWIDTH control is a band pass type on the left side of the knob, and a notch on the right side of the knob to control the range. Sweep the frequency with the CV control and control the BANDWIDTH to create a wide range of sonic effects.

Click the Freeze button to freeze the spectrum integrator and retain the spectrum currently being analyzed.

Spectral modifier
These controls allow creative modification of the analyzed spectrum.

The VOICE parameter allows you to choose the number of oscillators for resynthesizing the spectrum from 1 to 33.

The BLUR parameter (and associated CV input) is a spectral lag (delay) processor that controls how quickly the spectrum changes.

The FEEDBACK control lets you feed resynthesized audio back through the processing chain for feedback sounds that range from subtle to dramatic. When set to the maximum value, the output will remain autonomous even if the audio input is removed.

Oscillator bank
The OSCILLATOR BANK resynthesizes the analyzed spectra.

The WAVEFORM parameter selects the oscillator waveform. Includes sine, triangle, sawtooth and pulse waveforms plus two special crossfade sine and crossfade sawtooth waves.

The FREQ control can adjust the pitch of the oscillator over a range of +/- 7 semitones. Frequency is further controlled by the 1V/Oct input, FM input and attenuator.

The OCTAVE control octave shifts the pitch of the output.

The GLIDE parameter sets the amount of polyphonic glide. (Each oscillator has its own independent glide circuit.)

MIX (and associated CV input) sets the balance between the original audio signal and the resynthesized audio.

Optional features
Several optional functions can be selected using the OUTPUT MODE and TAP buttons.

Holding the OUTPUT MODE button and adjusting the SLICE control activates DRUM MODE, optimized for spectral analysis of drums and other percussive sounds.

SPECTRAL WARPING is enabled by holding down the OUTPUT MODE button and adjusting the FREQ control. In contrast to traditional frequency control, which maintains the harmonic relationships between spectral elements, SPECTRAL WARPING shifts harmonic elements individually to produce a variety of metallic sounds and dense textures. .

Adjusting the FREQ control while holding the TAP button quantizes the frequency control to semitones.

Spectral memory and presets
Panharmonium comes with 12 user spectral memories and 12 user presets.

Spectral memory can store up to 12 user-created Freeze Slices. When selected, the spectrum of up to 33 oscillators wide is replaced by a live input, with a 1V/Oct input and FM control for pitch control.

A preset is a snapshot that saves all the settings of a module along with the CV values that existed at the time it was saved.
