The Mercury Audio/M72s - MK IV is Mercury's flagship valve studio microphone amplifier, designed based on the vintage Telefunken/Siemens V72s amplifier.
The Mercury M72s Mk.IV is our flagship valve studio microphone amplifier.
The M72s is based on the Telefunken/Siemens V72s vintage amplifier, best known for the REDD.37 console used by George Martin to record the early Beatles at Abbey Road Studios, and this module is our most popular product.
The M72s is based on the module used in the console, and is very rare, with only a small number of units made. The generic V72s amplifier module was later improved and sold worldwide as an outboard preamplifier for many years. Active units are very rare, very expensive, and in some cases require significant repairs.
However, the unique musical tone of this amplifier makes it a valuable ""secret weapon"" for many engineers who have managed to get hold of a vintage module.
Mercury Recording Equipment is proud to be a faithful reproduction of the M72s. We have over 20 years of experience with this amplifier and feel we know not only how the unit works, but also the overall sound.
