The Canvas Stereo is a passive line isolator (LI) and direct injection (DI) device that converts unbalanced signals to balanced signals and transmits them to FOH recording interfaces and mixers. If you're using an ""Amp in a box"" like the ACS1 to output acoustic or bass guitars directly to a mixer or interface, the Canvas Stereo will be your new weapon.

Direct Injection Mode

Use DI mode when connecting high-impedance sources (1,000Ω or more, such as electric guitars and basses) with unbalanced signals. The signal is reduced by -20dB (-35dB when using the PAD) and converted to a balanced signal via a transformer connected to the XLR output. Boost the signal to line level using the gain on your mixer or preamp.

Line Isolator Mode

Use LI mode when connecting low-impedance sources (1,000Ω or less) with unbalanced signals (such as amp + cabinet simulators like the ACS1, synthesizers, etc.). The signal is converted to a balanced signal via a transformer connected to the XLR output while remaining at full volume. This reduces the required preamp gain.

FEATURE

PAD - Activates the -15dB pad in DI mode to prevent signal distortion.

GND LIFT

Turn on this ground lift if hum or noise occurs due to ground loops, etc. Normally, keep it off.

1/4in THRU SUM

When off, the left input is connected to the left thru jack and the right input to the right thru jack, allowing the use of a stereo amplifier. When on, the left and right thru jacks can be summed to connect to a single amplifier. In this case, use either the left or right thru jack.

XLR SUM

When this function is enabled, the left (L) and right (R) XLR outputs are combined and output as a mono balanced signal. This is useful when your mixer or audio interface only has one XLR input. The combined signal is sent from the left XLR output, and the right XLR output is disabled.

XLR PHASE (Right Only)

This function inverts the phase of the right XLR output relative to the left. It is used to correct phase cancellation caused by phase shifts in stereo configurations. *Note: If the XLR SUM function is enabled, the right XLR output is disabled, so this setting will not have any effect.
