Dreadbox DARKNESS is a digital true stereo reverb effect created in collaboration with Sinevibes.
The Dreadbox development team combined two exquisite Sinevibes algorithms and expanded the code to make it more suitable as an effect pedal.
Dreadbox has an open architecture on most devices, so instead of having multiple switched algorithms, DARKNESS has one versatile and flexible method to create a wide range of variations from smooth reflections of small reverbs to infinite reverbs with huge sparkles.
Strictly speaking, DARKNESS is a granular pitch shifter, starting with the large reverb found in the company's Typhon synthesizer and ending with a gate generator. In addition to this, it also has a micro looper that holds 150ms of the input signal to create a freeze effect.
