■Sound characteristics
Eventide ShimmerVerb is a unique reverb plug-in that combines a parallel pitch shifter with reverb. Producers often achieved this effect by using Eventide pitch shifting hardware such as the H910, H949, H3000, or other rack-mounted units combined with reverb. This production technique was popularized by Daniel Lanois and Brian Eno on U2's ""The Unforgettable Fire."" Perfect for adding dreamy ambience to guitars, keyboards, synths, samples, and vocals, this iconic sound has now been expanded into a modern, sleek interface. In traditional Eventide fashion, features like infinitely feeding back the signal result in a signature cascading reverb. You can further tweak the feedback by specifying the frequencies that are fed back through the low/mid/high crossover network.

■Play Ribbons
ShimmerVerb shines through its playable performance-based parameters. ""Ribbons"" are easy-to-program performance macros that allow users to morph between two settings with one control. Desktop users can connect a MIDI keyboard and get tactile command over this feature via the modulation wheel.

Ribbon mapping is perfect for feedback swells, moving the pitch knob, or for dramatic detune size changes.

■HotSwitch
ShimmerVerb also has a HotSwitch to recall another state of a parameter within the same preset. Use it to change octaves, turn the pitch shifter on/off, or adjust the Mix up or down while creating a performance. Finally, the FREEZE button lets you create grungy textures from single voices, full pads, or percussive elements, and create metallic ""sparkles.""
