The shell is made of hickory and is slightly thin at 6mm/6ply. This snare drum has a bright, clear tone and warm sound like maple. It is 5"" deep, has a 2.3mm steel flange hoop, and a high carbon steel snare, providing excellent response and a bright, crisp sound. The offset tube lugs create a vintage look.
