In 1979, Simon Phillips became a TAMA endorser, and this year marks the 40th anniversary of that. The ""SP1465A40"" is a limited production model of only 100 units worldwide, commemorating the long relationship between Simon Phillips and TAMA.

Inspired by his signature snare ""Monarch"" and the flagship series ""STAR DRUM"", this snare drum has a unique shell structure with walnut sandwiched between maple. It also comes with a sound focus ring of the same specifications, achieving a bright, clear sound image while achieving a rounded and warm sound in the mid-low range.
The outer ply is made of beautiful bird's eye maple wood. In addition to the 40th anniversary badge, the inside of the shell is fitted with an inside sticker with his autograph.
