TLSD1465S-OJS is a snare drum that uses sandalwood, which is very rare for a drum shell.

Sandalwood, which has been used since ancient times for mokugyo and stringed instruments such as biwa, is a shell material with acoustic properties similar to mahogany, and is characterized by a hard and rounded sound. In this model, sandalwood is molded into a 7mm thick solid shell and sound focus rings made of the same material are attached to the upper and lower edges of the inside of the shell, increasing the rigidity of the shell without compromising the excellent vibration characteristics of the solid shell, achieving a rich mid-low range and quick sound rise. It is not too hard even at high pitches, produces a gentle sound at low pitches, and is a snare drum with a rich shell sound in the mid-low range.
This model is also the first to use an extra-thick 3.0mm steel flange hoop. In addition to an open sound, it achieves a sound with presence that cannot be obtained with ordinary flange hoops. The snare uses 20 high-carbon steel wires, and combined with the good response of the solid shell, it enables delicate and rich expression that does not miss even the smallest passages of the player.
