Traditionally, bus compression is done with IC-based VCA-style devices. But ICs lack the warmth, thickness and character of discrete Class A technology, such as heavy transformers and diode bridge-based gain reduction.

The Successor is a fully Carnhill transformer-coupled input/output unit, a diode bridge-based stereo bus compressor with the familiar 73-type Class A output stage, advanced sidechain filtering and parallel compression.

Based on the legendary vintage diode bridge design, it retains the sonic character of the unit, but the added features make it a new beast that will make your mixes shine in modern production environments. The ultra-fast attack and release make the drum bus compression sound even more powerful, and the modern sidechain filtering allows you to create sounds that you've never felt before.

Mix with the versatile Successor - from FET-like all-button drum sounds (stereo!) to VCA-style mix busses with the warmth and fatness that only a transformer can bring.

○True stereo operation with one control thanks to extremely accurate left/right tracking and matching gain cells with near-zero offset between channels. Compressor tracking works in Oxford mode (compression acts on the larger input signal, not the sum of the left and right channels).

○Carnhill transformers add character and vintage flair. Balanced inputs and outputs with transformer coupling.

○73-type Class A output stage brings the sound you want to your mix or drum bus.

○Diode bridge-based compression excels at eliminating unwanted odd harmonics, providing second harmonic distortion character and true vintage tone.

○ Ultra-fast attack/release time options not found in vintage designs allow for FET-like sounds and much more flexibility, maximizing volume without transient artifacts.

○ Advanced sidechain filters include the familiar high-pass filter type, as well as mid-band peak type filters and high-frequency options, allowing for unprecedented sonic shaping.

○ Sidechain send/return connections allow for further external processing of the internal signal as well as the application of an external sidechain signal.

○ Equipped with a BLEND control for internal parallel compression without the need for external equipment. The BLEND ON/OFF button allows for instant comparison of a 100% wet signal with a wet/dry blend.
