■What is a UPS battery?

The battery for an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) uses a sealed lead-acid battery.

The service life of this battery varies depending on the usage environment and frequency of discharge, and its rated life is usually about 1 to 2 years (approximately 2 years at an operating temperature of 25°C, approximately 1 year at 35°C) when managed under ideal conditions. Depending on the usage environment, such as temperature changes and frequent discharge, the battery life may deteriorate earlier. Therefore, we recommend that you check the backup time regularly and replace the battery approximately once a year.

■Measures to extend the battery life

The following are recommended as a method to maximize the battery life.

1. Do not increase the number of connected devices until the unit's rated capacity is close, but connect about 50% to 80% as a guideline. If a load is applied all at once during a power outage, the battery life will be shortened.

2. Do not connect devices that use a large current, such as a laser printer.

3. Install the UPS in a cool place with as much ventilation as possible.

4. Discharging the UPS to measure the backup time (runtime) may shorten the battery life, so as a guideline, measure it about once or twice a year.

■Measurement of backup time

The life of the UPS will be shortened even if the battery is not used. Please check regularly (unplug the power cord from the outlet and measure the time), and if the backup time from a fully charged state becomes shorter, replace the battery immediately.

■Battery storage period

The storage period for a new battery should be approximately six months. Over time, the battery will lose charge and become unusable.

■How to dispose of the battery

If you send it to us, we will dispose of it. Please write ""I would like to dispose of the battery"" in the margin of the shipping label and send it to us.
