We use the notation used by NEUTRIK for the Speakon connector notation.
*Plug: NL4FX (female), receptacle: NL4MP (male)
NL4FX tends to look like a male because of the uneven convexity in the center, but in fact the size of the NL4MP terminal, which is seen as the receptacle side, is larger, and anyone can see that the overwhelmingly larger NL4MP terminal is the male terminal.
