Like the API 3124+, the 3124V is a high-quality, compact 4-channel microphone preamplifier. It features the RE-115 K microphone input transformer and proprietary output transformer found in all API microphone preamps and the API product line. Furthermore, the 3124V offers variable output level control and switchable 3:1 output transformer selection. It is equipped with 48V phantom power and a -20dB pad switch that affects both microphone and Hi-Z inputs.

The 3124V boasts a maximum gain of 65dB. Additionally, the Hi-Z front panel inputs are directly connected to op-amps, allowing for amplification of low-level inputs such as guitars and basses without the need for transformers or direct box matching. These Hi-Z inputs can take on a high level of +20dBu, making them ideal for keyboards and other high-level devices.
