The optional microphone capsule "SSH-6" for H5/H6/Q8 is an MS type stereo that combines a super directional shotgun microphone that picks up the center sound and a bidirectional Side microphone that picks up the left and right sounds. This is a shotgun microphone. Like the MSH-6 MS mic, you can freely change the stereo width by adjusting the side mic level (side mic level). If you set to "RAW" mode, you can also adjust the stereo width after recording. You can aim for a specific sound with the shotgun microphone and later mix the environmental sounds picked up with the Side microphone as needed. (*)

*"Q8" does not support "RAW" mode recording. The stereo width cannot be adjusted after recording.

For example, in applications such as film/video/news coverage, while clearly recording the voices of actors and reporters, it is possible to add a sense of realism by mixing the surrounding environmental sounds during post production. Conversely, if the ambient sound is noisy, you can lower the level of the Side mic to make it easier to hear dialogue and narration. Even in the professional field where recording is not possible, it is possible to respond flexibly according to the situation. It also comes with a hairy windscreen that boasts professional-grade windshield performance.
