This ultra-directional stereo shotgun microphone capsule can be attached to the H5/H6 handheld recorder and the Q8 handheld video recorder. It uses MS stereo technology, allowing you to freely change the stereo width by adjusting the side microphone input level, allowing for flexible use according to the situation.

The optional microphone capsule ""SSH-6"" for the H5/H6/Q8 is an MS-type stereo shotgun microphone that combines a super-directional shotgun microphone that picks up center sound with a bidirectional side microphone that picks up sound from both sides. Like the MSH-6 MS microphone, you can freely adjust the stereo width by adjusting the side microphone level. By setting it to ""RAW"" mode, you can also adjust the stereo width after recording. You can target specific sounds with the shotgun microphone and later mix in ambient sounds picked up by the side microphones as needed. (*)

*The ""Q8"" does not support ""RAW"" mode recording. Post-recording stereo width adjustment is not possible.

For example, in applications such as film, video, and news gathering, you can clearly record the voices of actors and reporters while adding ambient sounds in post-production to enhance the sense of presence on set. Conversely, if the surrounding environment is noisy, you can lower the level of the side microphone to make dialogue or narration easier to hear. This allows for flexible response to various situations, even in professional settings where re-recording is not an option. It also comes with a hairy windscreen that boasts professional-grade wind protection.
