Doepfer's ""Dark Energy II"" is an analog monophonic synthesizer with MIDI, USB MIDI, and CV/Gate control. Housed in a compact, robust tabletop chassis, it features analog circuits that produce rich analog sounds and digital circuits that allow for ubiquitous control, making it ideal for integration into any system. Its semi-modular design allows for immediate play with the basic internal connections. Furthermore, the front and rear panels offer CV/Gate and audio inputs/outputs, allowing for patch cables to be used to change the basic connections or integrate with other analog synthesizers.

The sound generator section, with a simple configuration of 1 VCO, 1 VCF, 1 VCA, 2 LFOs, and 1 ADSR, offers a wide range of control, enabling a wide range of sound creation, from floor-shaking fat bass sounds and crisp lead sounds to drones and intense noise sounds. Version II features a new crossfadeable multi-mode filter, enabling even more nuanced and versatile sound creation.

Control it with a MIDI keyboard, connect it directly to a computer via USB cable and play it with sequencer software, or use the CV/Gate input to play it in combination with a modular synthesizer. It can be integrated into any system.

The ""Dark Energy I,"" which inherited the design of the once-worldwide best-selling monophonic synthesizer ""MS-404,"" has evolved into a compact semi-modular synthesizer, and the ""Dark Energy II,"" which features a new multi-mode filter. A new chapter has been added to the history of Doepfer synthesizers.
