Dual mono microphone preamp/DI featuring two legendary ISA 110 microphone preamps
■ Microphone Preamps
The history of the Focusrite ISA series dates back to 1985, when George Martin commissioned legendary console designer Rupert Neve to design a new module for the console at AIR Montserrat Studios. The resulting module, the ISA110, was so superior that it prompted a similar request from AIR Studios in London. These original modules form the foundation of today's Focusrite ISA series, delivering legendary sound to studios, artists, producers, and engineers around the world. Literally hundreds of hits have been created through the Focusrite ISA series, and continue to be so today.
■ Two Legendary Mic Preamps
The Focusrite ISA Two combines two independent microphone preamp modules from the original ISA 110 module into a single unit. It features the finest traditional solid-state electronics and the original Lundahl LL1538 input transformer, specially specified by Rupert Neve himself. Whether you're recording vocals and instruments or piano in stereo, ""Two"" is a versatile number. Even if you only need two mic preamps, you still need the best build quality and components. If you need more channels, we also offer the ISA 428 Mk II (4-channel) and ISA 828 (8-channel) models.
ISA Two is a dual-mono channel microphone preamp that inherits the preamps from Focusrite's historic ""Forte"" mixing console and its channel module, the ISA 110, a classic vintage unit.
The two mic preamps also feature inputs that can be used as instrument DIs and balanced line inputs, making it suitable for a wide range of applications, from personal recording to stage use.
ISA Two is ideal for upgrading your sound input as a front-end for your DAW.
Traditional Mic Preamps and Variable Input Impedance
ISA Two's mic preamps feature ISA's traditional transformer-based preamps. Its appealing sound and functionality inherit the preamp technology of the still-popular ISA 110.
ISA One is equipped with a variable impedance circuit that allows you to change the impedance setting. In addition to the impedance of the original ISA 110, a total of four impedance settings can be selected to match the microphone. This feature eliminates compatibility issues caused by differences in impedance characteristics between microphones and preamps. From budget to high-end, modern to vintage, the ISA Two is compatible with a wide range of microphones, from low-end to high-end.
80dB Gain
ISA Two boasts a wide 80dB gain stage, low noise, and clear sound. The high-gain input is fully compatible with microphones with low output, such as ribbon microphones.
DI and Line Input
In addition to the microphone preamp, the ISA Two is equipped with a line input and a DI (instrument) input that allows you to directly connect an electric guitar or bass. The sound of a Focusrite preamp connected to the front panel input terminal is attractively transparent and clean.
The rear panel also features a balanced line input, allowing you to switch between microphone, instrument, and line input with a single switch.
Balanced Insert Input/Output
ISA Two is equipped with balanced insert inputs and outputs, allowing you to connect external processors such as EQs and compressors. This can be done with a single on/off switch for the insert point.
Variable High-Pass Filter
ISA Two is equipped with a filter with an 18dB/octave cutoff frequency that can be adjusted. This allows you to cut out unwanted low frequencies or adjust the low range when recording.
