■FreedomCGR The Lockable Bridge was designed to address a major structural weakness of the ABR-1-type bridge, dramatically improving functionality and sound quality. Furthermore, the weight of the Lockable Bridge, which affects tone, is made roughly the same as the ABR-1 to minimize any impact on the ABR-1's inherent tone.
■Setting Up When Changing Strings
With the ABR-1, the bridge itself and the thumb nut for adjusting string height are held in place only by the string tension. Therefore, loosening the strings removes the force holding the bridge in place, allowing the bridge to easily come off. Furthermore, the thumb nut for adjusting string height underneath the bridge moves, forcing you to readjust the carefully adjusted string height every time you change strings.
■ ""Resonance of parts""
On the ABR-1, the bridge saddles that come into contact with the strings are only held down by retainers (wires), which are not completely fixed. This causes the saddles to vibrate when the strings are plucked, resulting in resonance and unwanted vibration noise. This unwanted resonance spoils the natural vibration of the strings, potentially robbing the guitar of its inherent sound and sustain.
■ The Freedom CGR ""Lockable Bridge"" has made the following three improvements to this area.
1. The bridge body is completely fixed with a locking cap.
2. Instead of using a retainer fixing method, the saddle is ""semi-fixed by the octave adjustment screw.""
3. A ""plastic washer"" is used for the octave adjustment screw bearing, semi-fixing the octave adjustment screw.
This three-stage structure eliminates rattle between the parts and the bridge itself, achieving the following:
1) Maintaining the setting when changing strings
2) Suppressing resonance between the parts and the bridge itself, improving sound quality.
Furthermore, this improvement allows for finer octave adjustments.
■""No-modification replacement"": If your guitar is equipped with an ABR-1, you can attach the Lockable Bridge to your guitar without any modifications, simply by using the included inch-compatible locking caps.
