The Freedom Custom Guitar / SP-B-02NT Lockable Bridge, Titanium Saddle Nickel, is a guitar bridge that has been uniquely improved from the ABR-1 type, a classic TUNE-O-MATIC bridge found on GIBSON guitars. ■The FreedomCGR ""Lockable Bridge"" was designed to address the major structural weaknesses of the ABR-1-type bridge and dramatically improve functionality and sound quality. Furthermore, the weight of the ""Lockable Bridge,"" which affects tone, is kept roughly the same as the ABR-1 to minimize any impact on the tone of the ABR-1 itself.
■ ""Settings when changing strings""
On the ABR-1, the bridge body and the thumb nut for adjusting string height are held in place only by the string tension. Therefore, loosening the strings removes the force holding down the bridge, causing the bridge to easily come off. The thumb nut for adjusting string height under the bridge also moves, resulting in the need to readjust the carefully adjusted string height every time you change strings.
■ ""Resonance of parts""
On the ABR-1, the bridge saddles that come into contact with the strings are only held down by retainers (wires), which is incompletely fixed. This can cause the saddles to vibrate when the strings are plucked, resulting in resonance and unwanted vibration noise. This unwanted resonance can spoil the natural string vibration, robbing the guitar of its inherent sound and sustain.
■ The FreedomCGR ""Lockable Bridge"" incorporates the following three improvements in this area.
1. The bridge body is completely fixed with a locking cap.
2. Instead of using a retainer fixing system, the saddle is semi-fixed by the octave adjustment screw.
3. A resin washer is used as the bearing for the octave adjustment screw, semi-fixing the octave adjustment screw.
This three-tiered structure eliminates rattle between the parts and the bridge body,
