- The LPD8 is a direct descendant of the legendary Akai Professional MPC series. Music producers who enjoy the feel of an MPC and use computer software will find using the LPD8 far more musical than using just a mouse or keyboard.

- The eight velocity-sensitive pads, illuminated with orange LEDs, allow for expressive rhythm programming and melodic performance. The pads can also transmit not only note data but also program change and control change information. Eight assignable Q-Link knobs can be used to assign various parameters. It also has four memory banks, allowing you to program settings for each software and environment.

- No special drivers are required on Mac or PC; it operates plug-and-play and is powered by the USB bus.
