It can pick up sounds with minimal distortion, from soft to loud. It can also be used as a two-piece transmitter when combined with the optional WT-UM80 (tie clip microphone kit) or WT-UM82 (headset microphone kit). It's a hands-free type that can be selected according to your needs.
