This line-level phase adjuster corrects time offset and phase offset between two microphones. When the phase is perfectly aligned, the sound is outstanding. For electric guitar, it blends the room microphone and the direct sound from the amp to achieve a thick, rich tone. For kick drum, two microphones can be used to combine attack and resonance, and for snare, microphones can be placed on the front and back to capture both the head and snare. For acoustic instruments, mixing a microphone placed close to the instrument with a room microphone allows for a well-balanced sound. Controlling the phase allows for the sonic image to be tweaked and new sounds to be created. By combining the line signal from a guitar amp DI, such as the Radial JDX, with the signal from a microphone placed in front of the speaker cabinet and shifting the phase, you can achieve a sound reminiscent of 1970s Tom Schultz (Boston). Phazer is both a corrective tool and a creative effect for engineers. To maintain high sound quality, Phazer utilizes a 100% discrete Class A circuit, resulting in an extremely smooth and natural phase curve. With a simple knob, you can adjust the phase from 0 to 180 degrees (or 181 to 360 degrees), making it easy to find the sweet spot. A low-pass filter allows for targeted correction of low frequencies where phase shifts are most noticeable. Like all Radial products, it features a durable 14-gauge steel body and a book-shroud design to protect the switches and connectors. The full bottom padding provides both anti-slip and insulation, making it safe to use even on tours where you move around a lot.
