数あるWAVES製品の中でも人気の高い定番のマキシマイザーです。フラッグシップモデルのL3-16は、16バンドのマルチバンド・リミッティングが可能。帯域ごとのリミッティング設定をすることができます。操作方法は、Lシリーズ共通になり比較的シンプルです。綺麗に聴かせるために細かい調整は必要ですが、単純にThresholdを下げれば、下げるだけ音圧が上がって行きます。また、リリースキャラクターを選択可能で、ボーカル、ドラム、ベースなど強調したい音源に合わせたプリセットが数多く用意されています。そして同じくバンドルされているL3-LLは、ローレイテンシーモデルです。L3-16がマスター用であるのに対し、個別のトラックに挿して使える仕様となっています。リミッターとしてマスターやバストラックに通常のL3-16を挿したままレコーディングをするとかなりの遅延が発生するので、L3-LLは、レコーディングやアレンジ段階のリミッターや仮音圧調整用としても重宝すると思います。現在各社から多くのリミッター、マキシマイザーが出ていますが、その中でも定番モデルとして、持っておいて損はないと言えるパッケージです。
