Products designed by Aspen Pittman have been sought by legendary musicians and record producers for 40 years. His best-selling book "Tube Amp Book" has sold more than 140,000 copies. In addition, he independently developed unique tube products including guitar amps using vacuum tubes, stage microphones, and studio microphones. Just as speaker emulators have revolutionized the way guitars are recorded, the point stereo technology developed by Aspen fundamentally changes the way live sounds are.
Aspen has received numerous patents in the US and around the world, and has been recognized for its innovative acoustic technology, and has won many top awards, including the prestigious TEC award for microphone design.
Therefore, the company name is simply Aspen Pittman Designs.
Aspen Pittman's Spacestation v3 and the new Spacestation XL are powered speakers that can reproduce 3D sound beyond stereo from a single speaker throughout the venue with a directional characteristic of 300 degrees. A great partner for keyboards, guitars and vocals, you can listen to the same 3D sound from anywhere, with members and audiences covering the main and monitor output from the mixer across the entire band!
The compact size of only 15 kg and the sound pressure level of 106 dB achieved the SS3's ability to cover small to medium sized venues, impacting the world of acoustic technology. With its double power and 50Hz to 20KHz frequency response, the new SXL for large venues that does not require a subwoofer is equipped with two input channels. Therefore, even if the keyboard player plays two keyboards, it does not need a mixer.
The DT1 is a unique, high definition, high resolution Dual Top design condenser microphone. It can be used on stage, in the studio, on vocals or on instruments, providing a delicate and warm tone. By changing the top of the microphone body, it is a perfect microphone that can be used for most instruments.
The Duo Tonic features a two-mode overdrive feature in the high gain preamp section using two five-pole tubes (6205) to create a traditional all-tube sound. The high gain channel has full range control of tones and tones, and two SS overdrive circuits produce vintage sound. Duo Tonic revives superior drive sound by the combination of 2 mode overdrive and the preamp part.
PFM is a steel mesh pop filter that does not affect the sound quality. Protect the studio vocal track by eliminating the popping sound when collecting sound. The PFM can be magnetically attached to many shock mounts and also comes with the jam ring needed for gooseneck use.
The PFM + comes with a gooseneck and a stand clamp for use with many studio mics, with or without a shock mount.

Many keyboard players do not have a good understanding of the system they use on the stage. I have tried a variety of amp sizes and combinations (including guitars / bass amps), small PA systems (mono and stereo), or in-ear monitors, but among them you are convinced to say "this!" It was not easy to find a good way. Aspen and his team (formerly Groove Tube) have been researching for many years to produce stereo sound from a single speaker. Similar attempts are seen by other companies, but there is nothing like the design and specs of the Aspen Center Point Stereo.
Named SSV3, this amp is compact with a weight of 14.5 kg, a height of 45 cm, and a width / depth of approximately 28 cm. The front is equipped with Eminence's 8-inch woofer, coaxial-mounted 1-inch mid-range compression driver, 1-inch tweeter, 6.5-inch speakers on the side, and a total of 4 drivers. It is equipped with two 100W amplifiers for woofer, and two 40W amplifiers for mid-range and high-range drivers. The robust, rattan-like front grille protects the speakers tightly, and the side panels have holes that are uniquely shaped to ensure that the sound of the speakers travels exactly. The simple rear panel has two balanced TRS phone inputs, and one "Sub Out" full-range TRS phone output can be connected directly to the PA. There are four controls: CPS level (volume), WIDTH (stereo separation), and two mid / high adjustment knobs. Also, although not universal, it has an internal power supply. The factory setting is 120V or 220V. A pole mount will not be necessary as its use on the floor is most effective.
I used it in my own studio (large room) with a grand piano, and also for outdoor live performances and rehearsals. In the studio, I adjusted in various ways to my own taste and played. Then I used it with other musicians and found that it was very effective. At first I put it on the amp stand and used it for rehearsals, but it didn't sound very good even for the guitarist I was playing with, not the sound I liked. However, the place where I put it on the floor by the wall changed completely. I heard that my performance was so clear that I had never heard it, and everyone was surprised without having to turn up the volume.
The CPS can be heard well at low volume and can also hear the other party's speaking voice. The setting made the mid range knob in the direction of 10 o'clock, and the high region was boosted a little and turned to about 1 o'clock. Setting of WIDTH took a little time, but a little left was better than 12 o'clock. The keyboard is mixed with Yamaha / MG06, and the volume of SSV3 is sufficient at 12 o'clock without distortion.
I own an older version of the Spacestation, but honestly I didn't use it much because the base wasn't good enough. However, in version 3, there is an improvement. The new Eminence driver was very intense for me. In addition, if you do not use the organ's bass pedal, or in large venues, it is also recommended to use a combination with a sub-woofer. I tried it on my own outdoor live, but I was able to get a clear sound with enough volume. This combination could be used in a variety of venues as we were able to obtain the loudness of the outdoors.
There are two distinct differences between SSV3 and other speakers. One is that you can hear the sound from all directions and have the feeling of being surrounded by the sound, even if you put it behind you. In the past, I tried to create various environments by putting ordinary speakers in a V shape behind me, putting them in front and back, next to one, and another on the other side of the stage. However, it can not be compared with SSV3. The second is sound processing and output methods. Even if you turn up the volume so that you can hear the audience, you won't have to fight with other band members with your ears. I don't think there's a perfect amp that says "this!" Because people have preferences and environments, but SSV3 is pretty close to the ideal and clearly more effective than other stereo cabinets. I purchased SSV3 with a credit card, and I have a feeling that I will explain to my wife later.
Johnny Downing (professional musician)
I recently purchased Spacestation V3. I arrived a few days ago and then I couldn't let go. This is not the most wonderful invention since record player! Depth of sound, balance, and stereo sound that I have never heard before. I'm a professional live musician, but I'm not using it live yet, and I'm looking forward to using it with my own CASIO / PX-350-M and Roland / BK7M. I used to carry two stereo cabinets that were so heavy to drag, but from now on it's great to do with this one light amp / speaker! The price is reasonable, and it's worth a gift.
Also, Spacestation V3 represents all the nuances of the source, from the quietest part to the loudest part, without raising or lowering the volume.
I've always been interested in stereo sound since it was born, but while I'm alive, such a wonderful thing is born and I like a dream!

Aspen Pittman Designs introduces the revolutionary tube preamp / overdrive / boost pedal Duo Tonic Overdrive.
Designed by modern tube masters-Aspen Pittman and Mark Samson, Duo Tonic is a product that enables guitarists to produce enthusiastic tube sounds at any play style and at any volume.
Duo Tonic sends the signal of the solid state circuit overdrive section to the tube section. Both of these circuits create a variety of sounds and are the key to reproducing the sound of the tube amp that drives hard. Solid-state circuits are sometimes used to drive tube amps, and tube sections can be used as new channels for amps. You can also use the tube section for wilder distortion while applying solid drive overdrive with a crunch.
The Duo Tonic pedal has high quality parts. To get a true tube sound, you have to use a vacuum tube with certain characteristics. Duo Tonic uses a pair of genuine Military Spec 6205, 5-Pole tubes in the tube channel. The Overdrive / Boost channel uses the JRC 4558 chip, which can be used to create classic mid-hump tones, giving you an amazing sense of touch and real drive that has been accumulated for decades .
Duo Tonic Guitar Tone Pedal is a pedal that came from the ideas of Aspen Pittman and Mark Samson. Aspen Pittman is the founder of Groove Tube, and Mark Samson is the head of Matchless Amplification, which is renowned for its high-quality, high-quality design. Both are respected for their great contributions to the development of tube amps. With Duo Tonic, you can enjoy the sound that comes from their long experience that has sought out the best performance and great tube sound.。

PREMIER Guitar magazine (September 9, 2016)
PREMIER Guitar magazine (September 9, 2016) Between guitarists and audiophiles, it is a common recognition that tubes create a sweet sound. Using tubes for pedals is an easy way to increase the product value, but it's not the case that you will actually create a pedal that sounds better and brings out the potential of tubes. Tube specialist Aspen Pittman has developed Duo Tonic boost / overdrive / distortion, a tube-pedaled pedal, and has successfully extracted the potential of tube power.
By using a solid-state circuit to drive the tube, you can increase the type of overdrive and distortion harmonics in the high and low range.
2-channel pedal created by genius of vacuum tube
Duo Tonic is the first pedal developed by Aspen Pittman Desings (California). Aspen Pittman is also known as the author of The Tube Amp Book. This time, two small 6205, five-pole tubes are used for his two-channel boost / overdrive / distortion pedal. This tube is a commonly used size for compact pedal board amps and preamps, and is also used by BluGuitar / Amp1 and Effectrode / Fire Bottle.
The specifications on the tube / preamp side are similar to guitar amps and equipped with master volume, tone, gain, and 2-band EQ. The drive remains clean and at full gain you get a sound close to Deluxe Reverb. If you want to add a bit of sharpness to your guitar sound, it's best to use the Tone and Treble controls fully.
and Treble controls fully. The other channel uses the op amp JRC4558D, which is used in TS style circuits. While using a TS style drive, the tone works very well with the op amp and tube channel to get a very good effect.
Although there is no control on the tube preamp side of Duo Tonic, by installing a vacuum tube, it was possible to make a preamp style pedal that does not impair the goodness of the guitar combo amp. This creates a clean-toned sound that combines the clarity and sharpness of a tube. A "clean tone" is a hi-fi sound that has warmth in the middle and sharpness in the highs. When driving tubes using solid-state circuitry, the overdrive and distortion sounds are Dumble-like, with increased sound pressure in both the high and low range, and a deep, dense Klon-style low gain overdrive You can make a tone.
Evaluation
Duo Tonic is a pedal that can create various tones. The independence of both channels is a huge advantage. In fact, I tried various sounds of this pedal by connecting various guitars and other pedals. While both channels can produce slightly hi-fi or monochrome sounds, the two channels can be driven together to produce a clear, thick Les Paul-like creamy sound, bright Stratocaster, Telecaster, etc. You can create a sound. If you want to enjoy the tone and make the sound, Duo Tonic is a preamp / overdrive that you will never miss.

I tried connecting a piano / synth (Nord Stage 3 Compact) and an organ (using Nord's organ section, Mini Vent II Leslie simulator) to SXL in a Dallas club.
SXL is placed on Leslie 3300 as shown in the picture. This set was installed at the corner of the room about 3.7m away from the stage. The stage is short and the height is 40 cm from the floor. The band is an Allman Brothers tribute band, playing at a slightly higher volume.
A view on SXL
The combination of the Leslie 3300 and the Nord (especially the piano stereo sound from the Royal Grand 3D sample) was just the right equipment to compare to the SXL. The well-understood fans in the audience seem surprised at the "big and clear" sound. He walked around the room and said, "The sound of the piano can be heard in the same way no matter where it is."
I played almost a combination of Nord organ and SXL. The Nord Stage 3 piano / synth can not completely reproduce the power and richness of Hammond and Leslie, but the sound combining Nord and SXL is excellent, and it is an alternative to Hammond and Leslie for small venues and short setup times. I think that can be used without problems.
This time I didn't have the opportunity to play Hammond XK-5 and compare SXL to the 3300. I would like to try it on a show with Texas Flood tomorrow.
SXL is the weight and size that can be carried by one person. But it is more realistic to put a caster or put it in a caster-equipped amplifier case.
Finally, SXL is a really great speaker. I have been waiting for a long time. Thank you to Aspen for making SXL.
Fact: Stereo sounds are great for recording guitar effectors / keyboards, etc., but are not practical for live performances.
Generally when recording, many musicians do stereo recording. However, it is also known that stereo is unsuitable for live performances. SFX, developed by Dru Daniel and Aspen Pitman, unveiled the secrets of stereo that can also be used for live performances.
SFX delivers stereo sound to listeners while being a single speaker cabinet!
Fender received high marks for the SFX Acoustisonic amp using patented technology acquired by Aspen and Drew. Guitar World described the Fender amplifier as "embedded in their own guitar sound in an instant". This positive review is just the beginning. By the way, how does the magical SFX technology work? As with many great inventions, the mechanics are simple. To understand the technology of SFX, it is necessary to understand why the old method did not achieve it. Conventional speakers divide the left and right ends of the stage to create a stereo sound. The distance between the speakers determines the location of the sweet spot, which is a very narrow area. As a result, only 5% or less of the audience around the sweet spot can hear the stereo sound. That's why many musicians use a mono amp on their monitors to prevent them from getting inaudible in stereo. SFX changed everything, as color television changed everything. It provides the keyboard, the guitar, the drums, the vocals and all the sound in stereo magically. It is a unique one that is unique.
The SFX stereo field extension technology allows
you to listen to rich, bright natural stereo sound from a single cabinet in a wide range of 300 °.
How it works ,,,
SFX converts the left and right channels electrically and then outputs the acoustically written signal to the front mono speakers. Normally, when two speakers are placed at a specific angle, the phase decreases the volume, but the SFX encoder outputs so that the phases do not interfere, so there is no such concern. The front speaker outputs the sound (monaural) that is heard at the center when the speaker is placed in stereo. The dipole side speaker outputs the sound (other than monaural) that can be heard at both ends of the stereo speaker.
The secret of SFX is that the SFX signal is encoded in antiphase and the speakers are placed in antiphase. Because the SFX signals repel each other until they reach the ear, the stereo sound will not be broken no matter where you are listening. The SFX signal spreads while maintaining the stereo sound even if it is reflected on the wall or floor. The SFX control can adjust the volume and SFX Width of the front and side speakers according to the venue. It is more effective to set SFX Width wide in dead rooms and narrow in live rooms. SFX signals bring more than stereo effects to both players and listeners. With the sound source being output from one point, anyone who is listening can listen to the same mix wherever they are. By monitoring with the same sound as the spectators and bands and players, it is possible to avoid the trouble of "a certain instrument is noisy" and to uniformly mix the volume of each instrument. With one SFX speaker, you can play back the band sound including backtracks, vocals and instruments in stereo anywhere. Perfect for narrow places like restaurants and churches! This is just magic!
This is how Thaddeus Hogarth, a prominent musician on the East Coast, writes:
"I tried the SFX 100 in a solo performance with vocals and acoustic guitars. In a nutshell, it was a shame! This is an amazing revolution of live performance. The sound fills the room and the audience is quiet. I was immersed in the music, I thought it was too quiet, I opened my eyes and confirmed it, it was just magic that the stereo sound spread in the room, I walked around the room while playing Wherever you listen, it's stereo. GT's products are advanced and really great. ”Even with
Thaddeus's excellent comments, words alone can not express all of the SFX kaleidoscope-like stereo field expansion effects. . If you experience it yourself, you can not return to the monotonous mono sound you used to be. The colorful stereo sound is what gives a magical live performance. The possibilities will expand as well as your imagination.
Operating principle of center point stereo
Center point stereo (CPS) distributes left and right stereo signals to the front and side using a unique method. Using a special two-speaker system to shift the phase so that they do not interfere with each other spreads the sound. In technical terms, it is called "vortex sound". The repulsion energy of the VPS by CPS allows the sound to reach each ear while maintaining the stereo image, producing a stereo effect. Wherever you are in the room or on the stage, the stereo images do not mix. Center point stereo signals reflect each other and spread on the floor and walls. The 3D stereo image is preserved even if you are in another room.
SXL has two channels. The power is twice that of SS3. Two more patents are pending. One is to attach the input connector to the inside of the cabinet. The other is a new technology called DTA (Digital Transducer Alignment). As a result, by arranging the side speakers on the left and right in a specially designed independent cabinet, a 3D stereo image similar to SS3 could be realized.
The most effective technology to achieve CPS is the technology that centers the sound of the front and side drivers. It's just like the time alignment of a studio monitor, but it's a bit different. We built another cabinet inside a large front cabinet and used DSP to virtually center the sound of the two side speakers.
A very new and cool CPS technology designed by Dr. Marshall Buck to create the most effective 3D stereo effects.
Some time ago, the external independent cabinet method I adopted for the early Groove Tube custom shop SFX products could have worked well, but there were also risks. In this case, I thought that the internal cabinet method was the best method and adopted it.
So, I think that most musicians should worry about choosing between SXL and SS3. For small to medium-sized venues, SSV3 would be the best, and for large venues, SXL would be the best.

I am a big fan of Aspen who always pursues pure sound. In my performance career, I have played various keyboards that seem to be the best, from B-3s to Nord. There is also Vipres in my studio. Of course, that's great, but I ordered two additional SpaceStation V3s and arrived yesterday.
I opened the first one and at first glance I liked the design of the Tolex cover and the top handle. I took out my iPod and listened to Blue Pepper by Duke Ellington played by Galactic. Everyone who listened to it has lost a word to the sound that has not been heard so far. Although I walked around the room, the sound did not change much to say the least. Even when I entered the next room, I was surprised when I could hear the same stereo sound. "The best Leslie model I've ever heard," said a man who always carried two Leslie 122 cars for my B3. Next, I tried the ultimate test that most amps didn't pass. "Acoustic piano" sound. SpaceStation V3 also gave a great sound in this test. The Nord has an exceptional piano sound, but it sounds like it sounds as if you were sitting behind the KAWAI 76K in the studio and listening. I am very satisfied with the SpaceStation V3 price and product. SpaceStation V3 will solve many problems that many bands and solo players have in playing in small venues. I do lead vocals in a band, but the sound of the vocals sounds great regardless of the volume. Confidence, quality and talent for Aspen products are a must see.
Not just for the keyboard!
In fact, I am not a keyboard player. As an electronic harp player, I play while making full use of various stereo effects. So far, I have felt that the amps such as the Lucas Nano (※), other guitar amps, and the Bose L1 are lacking. In particular, the JBL monitor used at home has made my ears grow, and I was not satisfied with the clear, fine and warm sound I asked for my instrument during live setting. But Space Station is perfect. I heard that JBL helped hand in the design of the Space Station, but that is true if it is true. Take your luxury studio monitor out of the house and use it in a live setting, just as you want. That's exactly what it feels like. Before I bought Space Station, it was a dream to carry my favorite monitor freely, but thankfully it was almost a reality. On the contrary, it is easier to use. Great Space Station.

Great product, great service, 10 pieces
As a professional musician, what you have heard and read about Spacestation V3 is all true. I have used Casio PX-350 and Roland BK 7m since October 2014, and I really like it. I have used it in a large venue with more than 500 people, but I have never used it with more than 25% volume. If the value of the decibel meter is 95 in front of the speakers, 95 at the far end of the hall, you can hear an amazing stereo sound everywhere. Recently, there was a technical problem with the product and I called Aspen Pittman, the developer of Center Point Stereo, to explain the problem. He responded by himself and I was able to return to the performance within 24 hours. Of course, we will add 10 to this service. There is no need to get lost. Order the best speakers today today.

Keyboard Player for the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra
I have played the keyboard in the 2000-3000 seat hall without using the front of house (FOH) PA system, but I would like to say a word on the monitor speakers in such a hall. I have used several Bose L1 systems in the past. Of course, that's a great system. However, it was difficult to set up and withdraw equipment, so recently only one L1 Model II was used.
This week, we played the Hammond organ with the LA Phil Orchestra in the 2265-seat Walt Disney Concert Hall. Conducted by Esa-Pekka Salonen, a conductor familiar with modern technology. I use B3 and Leslie speakers for the synth, but when I brought in the Nord C2, Aspen lent me the SpaceStation V3. Esa-Pekka Salonen and I were interested in how SpaceStation V3 sounds in larger venues than we had anticipated. Then, not only the volume but also the overall sound was satisfactory enough, especially the Leslie simulator (although I still use Vent II) is overwhelmingly smooth and creamy while listening to the sound of Nord so far I realized that. Originally I wanted a bass on the left side, but I didn't feel the need for a sub-speaker and I didn't even think about adding it. Aspen participated in the last night's concert, saying that the organ was clearly heard on the balcony on the balcony. Musicians and technical staff both appreciated the SpaceStation V3. Needless to say, I ordered one SpaceStation V3 immediately after the first performance. You don't need to get lost at all to buy this small speaker for various venues, such as a jazz club to a concert hall. I would like to use SpaceStation V3 as a stereo stage monitor even in large venues like the Hollywood Bowl.

SpaceStation V3
Everything really! !
Several months after purchasing SpaceStation V3. The expensive system so far has lost its turn, and SS3 has become a keyboard amplifier for taking out. SpaceStation V3 takes some time to get used to, but it is fundamentally different from other amps. It sounds really good. Once you get used to it, you will soon find that it is much better than other keyboard amps and powered speakers for PA. A rich bass that does not seem like the sound of an 8-inch woofer will be heard on the stage even without mutual coupling effects in the low range. This speaker has enough headroom and does not require much power. It sounds good, and can reach all audiences well, even without playing loud. The more stereo effects such as Leslie, Chorus, Pan, and Reverb, the more pronounced the sound. SpaceStation V3 is ideal for small concert PA. You can hear the wonderful stereo sound everywhere and the audience can talk without loud voice. SpaceStation V3 is supported by a great designer, Aspen Pittman, and the community of keyboard players who trust SpaceStation V3 is getting bigger and bigger. You may want to order now and join the group. There is no doubt that the SpaceStation V3 will be a masterpiece speaker.

Another happy user to the sound of 3D stereo CPS! ! George Svetich sent me a comment with a photo.
“After reading Steve Fortner's review of GT Space Station SFX-100 published in Keyboard Magazine, I was looking to buy it from eBay on the shopping site, but I was unable to find it. When I searched on the website “Sweetwater Sound”, I found out that it was sold as version 3 from Aspen, and it made me very excited not only to be small and light but also to have a very clear and rich sound. You can enjoy stereo samples, chorus, auto panning, Leslie speaker effects, etc. from anywhere in the club, and they are highly praised by the local musicians in Portland, Oregon, who can get enough volume even in very large rooms. When I play B3 sound using Nord Stage 2 For the bass, I combine a Behringer B1200D PRO subwoofer, and I would like to give sincere compliments to Aspen Pittman and Drew Daniels for this great product. Two weeks ago I was surprised to use Spacestation V.3 for the first time in a solo concert for vocals and acoustic guitar. It can be said that it is one of the equipment that has revolutionized sound technology. The whole venue was filled with great sounds, and the audience was tied up, and I wanted to open up my eyes and see if there was no one when silence came.
The stereo image that spreads throughout the venue is magical. I connected the equipment, started playing and moved around the stage, but I felt that the sound was playing in stereo wherever I was playing. It's a great, advanced product that goes a long way.

SWEET CRYSTAL keyboard player with 13 Detroit Music Awards
I've been searching for a perfect keyboard amp that can be used with synthesizers, organs, pianos, and anything else and played with other instruments for 40 years, but I finally found something that sounds great.
Motion Sound, QSC, Traynor, PA Systems, BOSE, etc. all have good points, but none was satisfactory. I thought I could not meet forever, but with the advent of SpaceStation V.3, I finally found it. When I used it for the first time in the last week's live, I could not only hear all the nuances of the performance, but also see the satisfied smile of the guitarist who was playing from a distance of 10m on the stage. In fact, I was shouting "Wow !!" at that volume. Even without the subwoofer (I connected it just in case I didn't need it) I get a clear and soft sound. That's why I often use it in rehearsals, but there is no need to start up the entire studio sound system to listen to only the sound of my own keyboard, and it sounds great. Finally, it's good for veteran musicians like me to be light enough to carry with one hand. Thanks to Center Point Stereo. It's a really great product.

I have written about this speaker several times on this blog. I have been impressed by this great sound over and over again in various situations. On the other hand, I sometimes felt that it was annoying to see other musicians struggling to make a good sound using SS3. So, this time I would like to introduce that you can feel the wonderful stereo magic of SS3 if you learn how to use it properly.
Even though I bought it a lot, I can not make a good sound, I give up if it is not better than I expected, and I will never let it go in the end.
1. Basic part
The design of this amp has a unique design, unlike other amps on the market. This point is both strength and weakness. It consists of a total of three speakers, and is equipped with an 8-inch HF coaxial speaker, a 1-inch compression driver, a 6-inch side speaker, and a high-power 280W tri-amp design. You might think this power is small compared to an amplifier with 800W, 1000W, 1500W, or more outputs, but that's not the case. Compared to other amps that increase the volume when the volume is increased, the SS3 produces a good volume with good sound. You can hear a solid sound with SS3, even if you don't use loud enough to prepare earplugs like other amps. Whenever I ask a musician, "What is that?" Here's the secret. The L + R mono sound from the front and the LR stereo sound from the side are output in the same phase, and then fused in space to create a pleasing stereo sound. There is no other such speaker.
The next step in sound creation is the combination with powered speakers. Of course the cost goes up and you have to work hard to set up. And it is hard to decide the directivity. However, I sometimes use it because I can make an effective approach.
SS3 is a magical speaker with a wide directivity, the same sound can be heard everywhere. Control is easy. Level control is one for amplifier, "wide" control of side speaker, mid-range control (1 inch compression driver), high-range control (coaxial tweeter), etc.
In fact, it turned out that it was rather difficult to look at it so easy to handle this job.
After all, the side speakers produce this rich stereo sound. In order to make a center image, the front speakers combine stereo (R + L) and the side speakers create stereo sound. After using it for several months and thinking that problems will occur, when I installed it with the side of the amplifier in front, the stereo effect can not be obtained if there is nothing to reflect on the side speakers. Problems can also arise if the side speakers are placed towards the band members. An offensive sound will spread. I do not think I want to listen so much all night.
The solution is to place the SS3 sideways using an ordinary amplifier stand. And let the sound from the side speakers reflect from the floor. Then it's the best stereo stage amp that lets you hear the same sound everywhere. The standard position of the stereowise control is at 12 o'clock, but it should be smaller when playing in a small reflective venue. When playing in a large venue or outdoors, make it bigger. If you make it too large, you may get a strange sound.
Stereo sound source
SS3 is a stereo amplifier. When connecting a monaural sound source, the 8-inch coaxial and 1-inch driver of the front speakers produce a weak and flat sound. With the side speakers, it turns into a lively stereo sound. The problem is here. Not all songs you play are originally rich stereo sound. There is no problem with Hammond B3's voice playing stereo Leslie simulation. There is no problem with stereo chorus of Rhodes or Wurlitzer. Synthesizer voice of powerful stereo sound source, this is no problem.
What about a typical acoustic piano sample? I think that there is little stereo sound. If you don't do anything, it will be flat and tasteless. So how do you make stereo sound for a great acoustic piano?
The first way is to add a stereo effect like chorus or reverb to the acoustic piano. It does not apply to any music, but it produces a powerful sound. The second way is to make the sound a bit sweeter and then add a powerful stereo chorus or reverb. At Nords, which I own, I mix acoustic piano, stringed instruments, organs, vox, etc. on DX7 tins sound source. The third method uses purely acoustic piano stereo sound. A few months ago, Nord announced a piano sound library called Royal Grand 3D. A microphone is set to both ears of a dummy head and it records, and reproduces the stereo sound of a real acoustic piano full of immersiveness. It's really great.
Level setting
In the level setting of SS3, many people will have the same image as a general amplifier. How do I get enough volume? , How do you listen to musicians? , How do you hear to the audience? , SS3 uses a slightly different method. When I first set up, I often requested "turn down the volume" even though the volume was not actually increased. If the level is reduced, sound skipping is better for the entire venue and even outdoors. It may seem a bit strange, but you will find it when you get used to it.
EQ and compression
The sound of SS3 is not flat. The mid range is somewhat rough, so you need to take several steps to set it up. Use the sweepable parametric EQ on Nord to compensate around 400Hz and boost some highs and lows. Since SS3 rolls off below 100 Hz, there is no problem in boosting that band.
Compression is effective for loud music. For a soothing piano sound, turn off compression and play the keyboard. While setting up, use a small personal mixer. I use Yamaha MG06, but I can set it at the appropriate level for SS3. The volume can be quite large, unless it is extreme. Even if you are a guitarist who plays at a large volume, you can set it to use at a volume that will not lose loudness.
trouble shooting
There are two ways to get more out of your other equipment. I tried both, but it is better to be simple.
The first way is with the base. Some performers using SS3 may not like the response of a single 8-inch speaker. Some use sub-speakers to connect to the bass amp, while others use the filtering sub. The idea of ??the filtering sub (remember Behringer B1200D-Pro) is a technique to send only the high region of the signal that entered the sub to SS3. There is little gain loss and a solid sound is obtained. Most of my subs are at home and I don't use them very much as a base equipment. The second is the application to sublime and pure piano sounds. The idea is to just use the SS3 side speakers only. Place the SS3 front speaker face down on the floor. However, the front speakers are not used. Put a high-end powered PA unit on SS3 and cover all the sweet sounds of the piano. RFC RR08 or equivalent is the best. I have tried the Fulcrum Acoustics FA12acs, but I got an amazing sound. The side speakers are only used to determine the location of the sound. Not me, but co-starring jazz players like this setting.
As mentioned above, it is possible to cope with two types of equipment by using both approaches. The combination of two powered speakers as mentioned above is very effective.
Summary
If you're looking for a powerful stereo sound, the CPS SS3 is the best keyboard amp with great cost performance. Aspen has also introduced the high-powered, large SpaceStation XL. In May you will see how this fits with other approaches. Maybe an approach different from my case will come out.
I like simplicity. A single amp lying down and watching me, a magnificent stereo sound that lets you hear a good sound all night. You can raise the volume and hear wonderful magical sounds from anywhere on the stage, in the studio or outdoors. Of course, I use other equipment, but I always return to this reliable keyboard amp. If you do, you may be using it 10 years from now. Please connect to this wonderful keyboard amp, SS3.
This model was created from a concept that never existed before. The first impression was that I was puzzled by the strange shape and the strange sound image. Of course the spread to the left and right, I felt a strong sense of depth before and after. Especially when you raise the WIDTH knob, the effect will change as if you were applying reverb. The accuracy of the two knobs, MIDS and HFQ, is also high, making it possible to create a wide range of sounds.
Since the sound with depth was the first impression, I tried playing back the data being recorded with Pro Tools and shaking the PAN to check the stereo feeling that is for sale. It is natural, but if you shake it to the right, the sound image moves to the left if you shake it to the left. The speakers on the front and on the side create a sense of stereo with an exquisite balance. However, if the WIDTH knob is not raised to some extent, the output from the side speakers can not be felt and stereo feeling may not be felt as much as expected. And as I increased the WIDTH, the sense of depth also appeared strongly, so I had to correct it with the MIDS and HFQ knobs.
Next, with the cooperation of "Urasa Live Cafe Leon", I tried to sing at a live house. The performance as a keyboard amplifier recommended by the manufacturer is unmistakable. However, because it is useless as a monitor for keyboards alone, I tried the possibility as a main speaker.
I was surprised at the powerful sound pressure that can be used with a box of about 40 people if the Volume is maximized. What was particularly surprising is that you can hear a tiring sound wherever you listen at 300 °. It is amazing that in the middle of the venue, the performer can be the monitor and the audience can be the same speaker. In addition, I was able to feel both stereo feeling and depth feeling better if I was slightly away from the speakers. The weight of 12.7 kg is not heavy at all, considering carrying two speakers to the live of PA equipment carry-in (the point that the cover is attached is also good impression).
If you dare to raise a point of difficulty, is the depth of the WIDTH knob mentioned above too far out, and the timbre will change? When you try to spread, the sound from the side-facing speaker will be louder. As a small speaker is sounding, High is slightly tight, as a result, the localization of the sound tends to break down, and when using it at a large volume, it is necessary to make fine adjustments by MIDS and HFQ. If you expect too much stereo feeling, you may be betrayed. Certainly there is a sense of stereo wherever you listen at 300 °, but I think it's strictly different from the stereo feeling with two general speakers you think.
Spacestation V.3 is a new speaker with sound pressure and sound spread that does not seem to sound with one speaker. I think it's a good speaker for both portability and sound, for people working in small venues, outdoors, and acoustics.
No matter how much the text is explained, I do not know how far it is transmitted. Because it is a sound that I have never heard before. I was also puzzled at first. However, I think that you can realize the goodness of this speaker while using it. Maybe this speaker will suggest a new standard sound in the future. Please try it by all means.
Masataka Kawai
Performed as drummers with Sudo Mitsu (Trix), Masaki Koji (Dimension), Naoichi Nao, Nuki Nagawa and others. We offer music to movies and other artists, and release two solo albums.
He has been active as a live PA and recording engineer, and will be released in September 2016. The new album "Yoshida with Sekt" will be a drummer, recording engineer, and arranger.
This time, I used Spacestation V.3 in a rehearsal of a large band (vocals, seven instruments). I use four instruments such as SV-1 and moog. I put it together in a mixer. You can see if you connect the instruments and shake the pan left and right, but you get a pretty clear sense of stereo. (It can be adjusted with the width knob at the back. It will spread considerably than you think.) EQ is a form that fine-tunes with the knob of MIDS and HFQ. The sound comes out wide with this one, so it's convenient when using multiple keyboards. If it is an ordinary speaker, when you play the left and right keys, it will be difficult to monitor if you move it. However, with Spacestation V.3, the sound was widely output, so I could play while checking the sound firmly while moving around. Other members were also very surprised at the way of the sound that was not present so far, and I could appreciate that the evaluation was good even at overseas review sites. If you have trouble with monitoring while playing, we recommend that you try Spacestation V.3 once!
Yamazaki Takeru
Began in love with Ben Folds and started playing piano, and started playing from the time of student. Ms. Michihana Fukumori studied under Mr. Ryuta Abiru.
Studied in Berklee college of music in 2007 and played in Boston and abroad. After graduating, David Fiuczynski's Planet Micro Jam will participate in various live performances and recordings.
After returning to Japan in 2010, he performs in various bands while playing in bands such as POP, Tapdancerize, and nenem.
This time, because there were speakers in the shop, I used SS3 to return the stage.
It looks compact, but it is a powerful volume when used. I could get the whole return with one. Because it is Latin music, it did not use drums, but it was an organization of two percussions, but the melody of the front has not been buried, it has been heard well. In this live, I used an electronic vibraphone called mallet KAT. The compatibility between the electronic musical instrument and SS3 seems to be good, and the sound has been heard fairly clear. The sound of the middle of the stage, the adjustment of my own sound, and the overall balance were well heard, and I was able to play without stress. This time, because I used it as a return, there was a caution of Howuri at the time of using the speaker installation angle and the microphone, but I think that the sound can be delivered from the stage to the audience without any problems by simply putting one on the stage without the speaker You I felt it was a speaker that could handle various scenes, either as a whole speaker or as a stage return.
Ayumi Suzuki (Percussion)
Graduated from Tokyo Music University Percussion Department. He studied percussion instruments in high school, university and classic in earnest, participated in orchestra, wind, musical and opera pit performances, and had various ensemble experiences with marching and chamber music. Meanwhile, Latin percussion, drum live and concert support activities have been started while attending school. Main co-starring is violinist Chisako Takahata, 12 violinists, ESCOLTA, Fumi Sato. Rohto Pharmaceutical "C-cube eye drops" CM music, Kigurumi CD "Everyone's song" Marimba performance participation. She also has experience in teaching children to preschool children, and currently teaches at a preschool in Saitama. Interested in Latin music, joined two Paraguay instruments alpa and the percussion trio "Mariposa caprichosa" (aka Capmari). Launched the leader band "AYUMANIA" in 2015, and formed programs centered on original songs and original arranged songs with Latin rhythms that made the atmosphere of Japan, welcomed luxury guests from home and abroad, and performed live in various places in Tokyo . The long-awaited 1st Album “Sakura Hana-tsuki Song” is released from Aora Corporation in July 2017. Play percussion, keyboards, genres without distinction, bright and energetic! ! !
I usually use SENNHEISER E 835 or SHURE SM 58 live, but I used this microphone at the time of acoustic guitar and voice percussion, and at the time of acoustic guitar and piano. The high-pitched sound does not become sharp and picks up the voice naturally, so I thought that the compatibility with the acoustic instrument was an excellent condenser mic. I connected the looper of vocal effecter TC Helicon Play Acoustic and BOSS RC30, but I was able to use it without any particular problems. The person who played against the van used it while strumming the classical guitar, but the external sound was a very familiar impression. Even people with large voices and small ones will naturally amplify it, so I think it will be very useful even at live.

August 2017, 2nd EP "SHE" released nationwide. Perform installation alive at Tower Records Shibuya, HMV Aeon Mall Narita, Shonan T-SITE, which had been released in advance.
In charge of the Japanese version of the theme song "Jump Up, Super Star!" For the Nintendo Switch "Super Mario Odyssey" released in 2017.
In January 2019, she appeared as a surprise guest at an adult ceremony in the local Narita city, and hosted the first free one man live entitled "Good To Be Home vol. 1" on the same day, and was a huge success with a super crowd. It will be held regularly as part of the town revitalization.
The place I used this time is a small shop of about 20 to 40 people that I imagined with "Cafe Live". I always encounter in situations without enough monitor environment such as these monitor speakers,
I can not hear my own sound → Let's turn up the volume → The shop "Can you lower the complaint come ,," → a little speaker Let's head here → Howling → Let down → I can't hear my sound ...
And it goes on and on forever. As the number of members increases, the situation increases, and while the endless journey continues, the day to play by force somehow ends. On the way back, I go to a convenience store while comforting each other because it is such an environment.
If there is this, there is no doubt that you can get out of such everyday!
The speaker from the side which can be said to be the invention substitutes for the monitor speaker and enables a satisfactory performance without any problems. Sufficient range and power from one DJ to one talk. The final size is its size. Just borrow a few corners of the counter and there's a live house there! Inventions that can become the standard for new live equipment! !

In particular, as a guitarist, Reiko Omori / foxcaptureplan / DAOKO / IMALU ... etc. Attention is given to participating in various scenes and being named as a feature on guitar magazines. There are also many performances with overseas artists such as Thai super star STAMP.
As a composer, I provide music for Twin Rap's POP / Rap Idol RHYMEBERRY, Ayane Yoshida, NHK E-Tele "Shakeen", TV Tokyo "Osta Star B Rappers Street" and TV Tokyo Drama "A city where only Kichijoji would like to live Are you in charge of the accompanying music for "Knight Hero-NAOTO"?
We used a set of live speakers powered by Aspen Pittman Designs / Spacestation v3, digital mixer QSC TouchMix-8, and dynamic microphone beerdynamic / TG-V70D with acoustic guitar playing live by live bar, but the quality is as comfortable as the sound system of the live house I was able to play
Above all, Spacestation v3 which can make sound from not only the front but also both sides can be used not only as a main speaker but also as a monitor speaker of the performer, so it is enough for one small live venue. .
Clear and powerful sounds are also perfect for live performances.
Yutaro (Pablo)
The front man of the band Pablo who advocates "Tokyo UrbanRockSoundStyle".
Spacestation V.3 rumored to be compatible with the Nord series. I was very much looking forward to using it.
Depending on the monitor environment, the outline of the tone to be played may be sloppy, but when I monitor it with Spacestavion V.3, the detail of the tone can be heard very clearly and the depth can be felt properly. Furthermore, since other musical instruments and vocals can be clearly and independently heard, it was possible to monitor three-dimensionally.
It also has an innovative function that allows monitoring from any angle of 300 ° if you use Width, so it is very useful for monitoring when you have to move a few keys on the keyboard, etc., or for sharing monitors in a small organization I thought it was.
The look is also stylish, so the atmosphere when placed on the stage is nice and cool. Spacestation V.3 with lots of charm, I really recommend it!
