Analog drum synthesis has always been at the heart of VERMONA. Since the mid-1990s, the DRM-1 has been handcrafted at our Elektroakustische Manufaktur in Erlbach, Germany, remaining virtually unchanged for nearly 30 years.
For BASS|DRUM, we’ve adapted the sound engine components of the KICK and DRUM channels—originally found in the DRM1—to the Eurorack format. This wasn’t merely a port; we redesigned key parts of the existing circuitry to optimize it for a modular environment. As a result, the module clearly reflects its origins while delivering a range of sounds that far exceeds its predecessor.
The modulation capabilities of BASS | DRUM are exceptionally flexible. Numerous parameters—including oscillator pitch, decay time, and the built-in wave shaper—can be controlled by external CV voltages. For example, you can add variation to the timbre by modulating the waveform, or rhythmically switch between long and short decays and high and low pitches.
By using the DYNAMIC input jack, you can control the intensity with which an external trigger source affects the BASS | DRUM’s internal circuitry. This allows you to vary not only the volume but also various nuances of the sound.
The BASS | DRUM handles both bass and drums without compromise. If you need drum sounds that keep up with your music, this is the module for you. At the same time, it can also serve as a full-featured audio oscillator, ideal for generating basslines and melodies.
From deep, powerful kick drums to toms, and even high-frequency pings and percussive chirps (sweeps), BASS | DRUM can handle it all. By combining it with other modulation sources, the frequency range can be expanded infinitely. This module not only generates classic analog drum sounds but also serves as an excellent oscillator.
