This is a conversion screw that allows you to attach lightweight cameras and other equipment with 1/4-inch screw threads to 3/8-inch stands. The stand side converts to a 3/8-inch thread (like those used for AKG microphones), while the holder side converts to a 1/4-inch thread (for cameras).
