The key to its unique character lies in the T4 optical attenuator, a result of U.S. military optical sensor development. Its sonic characteristics include a two-stage release, significantly contributing to smooth and musical compression. The Opto-2A is incredibly easy to set up, with only gain and peak reduction knobs for adjustment. Simply flip a switch to convert the compressor into a limiter.

• Compression ratio varies depending on the source signal.

• Average attack time is fixed at 10 milliseconds.

• Initial release time is approximately 60 milliseconds at 50% release. The remaining release occurs gradually over 1 to 15 seconds before the signal returns to 100%.

* Release timing varies depending on the length and intensity of the input signal. Strong compression over extended periods or signal levels exceeding the threshold will result in a slower release time. Similarly, if the signal falls below the threshold, the release time will be faster.
