Tape delay and analog delay have both been favored by engineers and producers for decades. They are often said to have a warmer, more natural sound than digital delay. Tape delay uses magnetic tape to create delayed repeats of a signal, while analog delay uses capacitors to replicate a similar effect. Both types tend to roll off the low and high frequencies, making them blend more naturally into a mix. This results in the musical and organic feel that many seek.

The Perfect Balance of Two
Released in 1980, the Electro-Harmonix Deluxe Memory Man pedal uniquely blended both analog and tape delay by using capacitors instead of magnetic tape to recreate a tape-like echo. Its unique circuitry allowed the unit to produce a rich, dark, and premium-sounding delay with vibrant chorus and memorable vibrato, all in a convenient, compact body with numerous controls. After being adopted by The Edge of U2 and featured on the hit song ""Sunday Bloody Sunday,"" the pedal's reputation quickly soared, becoming a must-have for many artists, including Robert Smith, Ed O'Brien, Jamie Cook of Arctic Monkeys, and the late Chris Cornell. Fast forward to today, and the Deluxe Memory Man has become one of the most sought-after analog delays ever.

Antelope's Goal
As with all our products, our goal was to create the most faithful software emulation of the Deluxe Memory Man.

Measuring and recreating every component of the circuit, the Memory Cat Brigade AFX was developed based on the original Deluxe Memory Man circuit diagram. Not only does it faithfully reproduce the behavior of the original parameters, but it also adds several unique features to the Memory Cat Brigade AFX, such as a maximum delay time of 1100ms and a filter knob that produces a darker echo.
