A Complete Toolkit for Acoustic Drum Cleanup: Oxford Drum Gate 2 has evolved from simply a ""better drum gate"" to a comprehensive solution with everything you need to clean up multi-track drum recordings.

Improved Classification Model
Drum Gate 2 significantly improves drum hit detection, detecting Kick, Snare, Tom, and Hi-Hat with extremely high accuracy across diverse playing styles and recording environments.

Time, Polarity, and Phase Alignment
When recording drums with multiple microphones, such as top/bottom snare microphones, or using a combination of proximity and overhead/room microphones, phase misalignment is unavoidable.

Conventional alignment tools can produce flame artifacts (duplicates) due to excessive time shifting to achieve phase matching.

Drum Gate 2's Align tab uses an intelligent algorithm to improve:

• Tone

• Punch

• Clarity

while minimizing timing errors.

Furthermore, it provides:

• Automatic grouping by track name

• Visual feedback

• Stereo linking for overhead/room microphones


The Align tab is integrated into Drum Gate 2, eliminating the need for third-party tools. This significantly streamlines the workflow for multi-track drum mixes.

New Decay Algorithm
Oxford Drum Gate 2 features the Adaptive Resonant Decay algorithm, utilizing Claro-derived resonance detection. It preserves transients while separating the resonance decay of each hit from ambient bleed.

The new Hit Clip feature evens out punch and clarity while improving clarity within the mix.
