■Overview
The evolution of the product renowned as the pinnacle of mastering processors has finally arrived. Developed through a close partnership between Softube and Weiss Engineering, the Weiss DS5 Multiband Compressor offers something impossible with hardware, only achievable with software. That is, it multiplies the gold standard in dynamics by five.

This means that the award-winning Weiss DS1 has been faithfully ported line by line for all five bands of the multiband compressor, giving you complete control over compression for each specific frequency band. It's suitable for all uses, from mastering to mix buses, vocals, and drums, and retains the famous transparency that Weiss Engineering is renowned for.

■The Magic of Macros
The Weiss DS5 Multiband Compressor's macro controls and presets allow you to use ""five times the power of the Weiss DS1"" with incredible ease.

The presets were designed by renowned engineers Bob Katz, Jonathan Wyner, Maor Appelbaum, and Philippe Weiss, and are made to be used as a starting point (jumping-off point) for adjustments. More advanced controls are set within the presets, but users can click the DS1 button to open the Weiss DS1-MK3 for each band and see all available options.

However, in many cases, it is the macro controls that will help users arrive at the sound they are looking for. The unique ability to control five powerful bands, each comprised of five DS1-MK3 units, with a single macro makes its potential incredibly powerful and clearly perceptible.

■High Transparency, Low Latency
Weiss is known for its transparency, and for Softube, the primary goal in filter design was to maintain this characteristic. The Weiss DS5 Multiband Compressor's filters and compression are designed to be as transparent as possible, and the filters are designed for high speed. Furthermore, artifacts from pre-ringing and post-ringing are mathematically minimized.

The crossover filter is a phase-compensated 24 dB/octave filter and can be activated in the following three modes:

• Dynamic Phase

• Static Phase

• Linear Phase

The Weiss DS5 Multiband Compressor is also designed for low-latency applications. In addition to Dynamic Phase / Static Phase modes, it also features a newly designed safety limiter.
