Braids, from French Eurorack pioneer Mutable Instruments, is more than just an oscillator.

With fine and coarse pitch/frequency controls, a Volt/Oct input, and voltage-controllable tone/timbre controls, it looks like an oscillator, and the sound it produces sounds just like one.

Mutable Instruments calls it a macro oscillator, but that's an understatement. Braids is a highly sophisticated digital synthesis engine.
With 45 different algorithms and a wide range of built-in features, including multiple oscillators, wavetables, filters, VCAs, and ring modulators, you can generate and control complex sounds, including classic vintage synth waveforms, bells, resonant filters, plucked and bowed strings, vocals, vowel/formant sounds, brass instruments, percussion, noise, and granular clouds.
