The “lives” of the world of ice

From AIR Studios to the ends of the world. In collaboration with Bleeding Fingers Music, which boasts leading composers including Hans Zimmer, and talented string players in London, we have created a new type of small ensemble library for the BBC's “Frozen Planet II”.

Introducing a new approach to articulations, FRACTURED STRINGS offers inspired surprises, new modes of color, and unparalleled depth and realism.

Unlike most string libraries, FRACTURED STRINGS does not include legato (sustain) or pizzicato articulations, but rather a large number of “small phrases”.

At first glance, this phrase-based approach may seem to compromise versatility, but the series of phrases performed by top players will inspire composers and allow them to create not only accents for their music, but even complete string tracks using this product alone.

The main focus of this documentary, Frozen Planet II, is to express the life of the world of ice. Rather than simply seeking a sound that is cold, inorganic and sharp, we have tried to include organic warmth and a sense of air in order to express the strength of life in the world of extreme cold.

Since this organic performance was recorded using 12 microphone positions, it is possible to express a wide range of scenes, not just the world of Frozen Planet II. In fact, Frozen Planet II required a library that could be used to compose not only scenes of frozen silence, but also action, tension, crisis and drama scenes, and this product was created based on this.

New “Scale Mode”
You can create your own scale by selecting from among seven diatonic modes or by clicking on the notes you like. In accordance with this, you can now build interval string techniques and trigger wider intervals more quickly.

“Evo Grid”
This function maps articulations of multiple instruments to each key, allowing you to constantly encounter new sounds. By having each key play a different phrase or sound, you can easily create more organic and interesting tracks.
