SDX—HITMAKER is an SDX expansion library that contains sounds directly from Hugh Padgham, the producer, mixer, and engineer who defined the sound of the 1980s.
If you listen to a radio station anywhere in the world for 10 minutes at random, the chances of hearing a work by “Hugh Padgham” are surprisingly high. He is an engineer who has been involved in everything from the most iconic songs by Phil Collins, Genesis, The Police, and Sting to famous songs by Kate Bush, Peter Gabriel, David Bowie, The Human League, Paul Young, Melissa Etheridge, and Paul McCartney.
Not only has Hugh Padgham contributed to the packaging of timeless music, but he has also pioneered the sound of his era single-handedly. He was the first person to use gated reverb on drums, and he was also the pioneering engineer who first combined acoustic and electronic drums. He has won four Grammy Awards and has also been selected as one of the “Top 10 Most Influential Producers”. His mark on music history is as clear as it gets, especially when it comes to redefining the role of the drum in his productions.
With “SDX - HITMAKER”, “Hugh Padgham” has set out to create a comprehensive library of acoustic and electronic drums designed to reflect the milestones of the most famous drummers and albums in his productions, not only from the 80s and 90s, but also comprehensive library of acoustic and electronic drums. Six unique acoustic kits and a vast collection of classic vintage hardware drum machines were recorded in the breathtaking acoustics of British Grove Studios in London, England. All drums and machines were recorded to tape and then converted to digital.
In addition, the machines are played through a PA system and amplified in the same atmosphere as the acoustic drums, and they are captured using a similar microphone setup. Using the wide range of design tools included in SUPERIOR DRUMMER 3, you can seamlessly blend, mix, match, and modify the acoustic and electronic sounds. Of course, if you want to apply his mix, you can use the custom presets that have been included.
This library offers some of the greatest kits ever played and some of the most iconic drum machines ever made, all inspired by some of the greatest music ever recorded by the people who put it on tape. Bring the iconic sounds of the 80s to your tracks.
