IGS Audio / Photon 500

The IGS Audio/Photon 500 is a compressor in the 500 series, based on the optical technology of the LA-2A and LA4. It features a 2520-compatible op-amp and a custom-made output transformer from IGS. It is recommended for those who want to incorporate classic optical compression into their modular environment.

The PHOTON 500 is an optical compressor based on 1960s technology, as used in the early LA-2A limiter and later the LA4. As an homage to these legendary products, this technology has been incorporated into the 500 series modules. The PHOTON 500 uses an optocoupler to introduce negative feedback into the audio path, performing gain reduction, which is fundamental to all compression. The PHOTON 500 features an electronically balanced input with a 2520-compatible op-amp in the gain stage. The output is balanced with an IGS custom-made transformer.
