The COMP-3A Jr employs a classic optocoupler-based gain control circuit, faithfully reproducing the distinctive compressor sound of the original unit. The vintage-style signal path, unchanged from the original, perfectly recreates the LA-3A sound beloved by many engineers and musicians.

The ""COMP-3A Jr"" signal path uses only discrete components such as resistors, capacitors, diodes, and transistors, and the input and output each employ an optimized transformer-balanced design. The classic circuit design, completely devoid of IC circuits, is what defines the unit's sound quality. The musical vintage sound of the COMP-3A Jr offers a quality that is especially appreciated in today's digital recording age.
