SPL / PASSEQ Black

This is an upgraded version of the Model 2595 Passeq, released in 2005. The selectable frequencies for each channel's 12 switchable frequency ranges have been changed, and the Q value has been adjusted through optimal combinations of coils, capacitors, and resistors. By skillfully combining passive filter components, this mastering equalizer produces beautiful sonic results unattainable with active filters.

In 2005, SPL released the Model 2595 Passeq mastering equalizer. This passive equalizer was the first product to utilize the company's 120V rail technology. The PASSEQ Model 1650 (Black) / Model 1654 (Red) builds upon the excellent characteristics of the Passeq, while offering further improvements.

The Model 2595 Passeq features three frequency ranges with 12 switchable frequencies per channel. Using 72 passive filters (36 boosts and 36 cuts per channel), the Passeq was an unprecedentedly powerful passive EQ system. The new PASSEQ features a modified selection of frequencies and optimized Q-factor adjustments through the combination of coils, capacitors, and resistors. The mid-band, in particular, is more harmonious than in previous models.

By skillfully combining passive filter components, it produces beautiful sonic results not found in active filters. Key elements of this process include the load and saturation provided by the coils and capacitors. In contrast to the extremely fast response characteristic of active filters, the latency inherent in passive filters contributes to a musical texture.
