The shock mount, developed to match the weight and size of the shotgun microphone tube, minimizes handling noise. The protective metal mesh uses rubber suspension.

An extremely robust and durable stainless steel micromesh protects the microphone and reduces wind noise. Unlike typical foam windscreens, the metal mesh does not suppress high-frequency sounds and does not affect the sound. In addition, the metal mesh also protects against electromagnetic interference.

The battery-powered dynamic electronics adjusts the MKE 440's output signal to match the camera's input sensitivity, allowing it to handle any dynamic range, from the most delicate sounds to loud rock shouts.
