Vintage tube amps and custom transformers create the sonic stage, while true passive equalization creates a brilliant, musical EQ curve. The Retro 2A3 is designed as a high-quality program equalizer, delivering rich coloration far beyond previous equalizations. While accurately reproducing the performance of the industry-standard Pultec EQ, the 2A3 adds a sweet spot to the HF boost. The evolved HF boost, with meticulous circuit design, faithfully reproduces the original EQ sound. It adds brilliance and exceptional presence to vocals. It blends well with any source, but its exceptional effect is particularly noticeable when passed through a stereo mix bus.

Features
The newly installed SUBSONIC FILTER controls low-frequency peaks and effectively removes excessive sub-audible low frequencies. Utilizing an interstage transformer not only removes excess low frequencies but also adds the unique character of a transformer. The SUBSONIC FILTER has three selectable settings: OFF, 40, and 90 Hz, providing a sharp peak response and cutoff. The 40 Hz setting delivers energy to the 35-40 Hz frequency range, essential for any listening environment, without any noticeable loss of low frequencies. The smooth, textured effect is felt throughout the midrange. Easily switch to this setting when using sources requiring tight, precise low frequencies.

Despite its 2U footprint, the 2A3's two-channel design allows for flexible movement and configuration within a rack. Use the 2A3 on stereo tracks, multiple mono tracks, or even cascade them, offering endless sound-shaping possibilities.

The 2A3's circuitry does not rely on amplifier feedback, eliminating the harshness and other side effects often associated with active equalization. The 2A3 delivers a natural, effortless boost and cut with ample volume. The 2A3's design focused heavily on the Pultec-based boost/cut method, essential for kick and bass guitars. Simultaneous low-frequency boost and low-mid cut eliminates sluggishness and adds powerful punch. Even simply incorporating the 2A3 into your signal chain without activating its equalizer can add the distinctive sound of a tube amp stage. The 2A3 contributes to a wide range of sound shaping and coloring for mixing, mastering, and tracks.
