ZOOM / XYH-5

The ZOOM XYH-5 is an XY stereo microphone capsule that can be attached to the H5/H6 handheld recorder and the Q8 video recorder. It prevents external vibrations from being transmitted directly to the microphone, minimizing handling noise from the recorder itself, ensuring clear, distortion-free recording.

The XYH-5, an XY stereo microphone capsule originally included with the H5, is now available as a separate accessory. This shock-mounted XY stereo microphone is now compatible with the H6 and Q8.

The XYH-5 is a full-featured XY stereo microphone featuring two matched unidirectional condenser microphones crossed at a 90° angle. It captures a natural, three-dimensional stereo image that faithfully reproduces not only accurate left-right sound positioning but also the sense of depth from front to back. It also features a newly developed shock mount mechanism using vibration-damping rubber. The floating design prevents the microphone case from directly contacting the die-cast base, preventing external physical vibrations from being transmitted directly to the microphone. This minimizes handling noise from recorders, DSLRs, and other devices.

The XYH-5 also boasts the highest sound pressure rating of any ZOOM handheld recorder to date, withstanding up to 140 dB SPL. This high-pressure design is powerful enough to capture the roar of a jet plane just 50 meters away without distortion. Louder, closer, and clearer. This delivers an unprecedented level of high-quality recording, redefining conventional wisdom about portable recording.
