The 512C is a mic/line/instrument preamp designed to deliver superior sound quality to any audio system. It consistently ranks highly on ""mic preamp lists,"" regardless of price. It delivers exceptionally low noise (-129 EIN), 65dB of gain, built-in phantom power, a polarity switch, and a -20dB pad. It also features a mic/line/instrument input selector. When installed in an API Lunchbox, the front-panel XLR and 1/4-inch connectors connect to rear-panel input connectors for convenient front-panel cable access. This applies not only to 6-slot Lunchboxes, but also to 10-slot and 2-slot racks and API legacy consoles. The API 512C's exceptional mic preamp status is due to the acclaim it has received from recording professionals since the original 512.
