The 212L microphone preamplifier's sound is rooted in the API 2488 console series, an all-discrete design that is representative of the ""LA sound."" The same preamplifier design as the legendary machines of yesteryear is packaged in a compact module with a wide-range adjustable gain control and a unique 5-segment LED VU meter on the panel. This modular unit incorporates the same circuitry as the legendary API 512b, resulting in superb sound quality. It features a fully discrete design utilizing API's original API 2520 operational amplifier. It also employs floating-balanced input/output via an RE115K input transformer and an AP-2623 output transformer. A -20dB pad on the front panel helps maintain a proper level balance, and a 48V switch for phantom power is also included. The LED VU meter displays the output level according to the characteristics of a VU meter.
