API / 205L

The API/205L is a DI module from the API 200 series that allows you to record while preserving the tone of your guitar or bass. It features a Thin-Fat control to adjust the amount of low frequencies and a BRIGHT switch to enhance the clarity of high frequencies, allowing you to create a sound that suits your instrument.

The new 205L DI is designed to directly convert a guitar or bass signal. Of course, it doesn't alter the sound picked up by the pickup. The unique tone control improves low-end quality, while the BRIGHT switch enhances clarity. The combination of these two functions allows the instrument's original sound to be directly routed to the line, eliminating the need for further processing with a processor. The input stage, in particular, features a design similar to a tube guitar amplifier.

It preserves the sound from the pickup without coloring it. This allows for a direct connection between the instrument and console via the shortest possible path compared to using a conventional direct box. The signal, converted to balanced microphone level by this unit, is recorded to the recorder after passing through EQ, dynamics, and faders. The 205L can convert to line level independently without the need for another amplifier. A 100K ohm LOAD switch can compensate for any slight changes in the pickup tone. The 205L also features a 20dB PAD, allowing it to be used with line-level samplers and keyboards. By combining it with other 200L series modules, you can fine-tune the sound to your final specifications. Furthermore, the 201L fader module can be added to adjust the 205L's output level. The 205L uses original 2510 and 2520 op-amps, boasting reliability, long lifespan, and consistent sound characteristics.
