◆ Canal type

The mainstream type of earphones is this "canal type". By attaching it to the earhole like an earplug, you can get a firm fit and high sound insulation that is not affected by surrounding sounds. There are also few sound leaks, so it is easy to use in public places such as trains.

◆ Sound insulation
Because earphones are attached to the ear like earplugs, sound insulation performance is outstanding. You can still enjoy music at a moderate volume even in places with loud ambient sounds, such as subways and planes.

◆ Comfort
There is a peculiar feeling of pressure that pushes the earphone into your ear. At first, it takes a little getting used to. In recent years, a variety of replacement ear tips have also been released, and more and more people are choosing their preferred models for comfort and size. I really recommend the canal type for people who find wearing earphones difficult.

◆ Sound Quality
In terms of sound quality, the sound output from the earphones is delivered to the ear directly, so the amount of sound information is large, and many tend to be good for bass reproduction.
The driver unit that becomes the key to the sound is divided into two types, "dynamic type" and "balanced armature type (BA type)". The dynamic type has a wide sound reproduction frequency range and a powerful sound with a good sense of sound pressure. The "Balanced armature type (BA type)" on the other hand is a driver unit that is also used for hearing aids. It is characterized by a clear sound that excels in the ability to reproduce sound, has excellent definition, and accurately outputs delicate sounds. However, "Balanced armature type (BA type)" has a narrow reproduction frequency band and is not good at bass reproduction. Therefore, in recent years, in the canal type earphone, many different “balanced armature types (BA type)” such as one in the high region, one in the middle region, one in the low region, etc. have become available. Many products that overcome the narrowness of sound have been released.

◆In-ear type

In recent years the canal type has become mainstream and the in-ear type is becoming less common, but AIR PODS from Apple Inc. are the in-ear type that is also growing in popularity due to the fact that the earphones are included with the iPhone and iPad.

◆Sound insulation
They have a sound with a good feeling of freedom that can be installed on your ear just by hooking them on your ears and forget about them. They are more susceptible to sound leakage because they are only hooked onto the ear. Be careful with the volume when using them around others outdoors.

◆Comfort
They are characterized by the light weight you feel when they hook on your ears. There is no feeling of pressure like canal type. However, if you make a mistake in size, your ears may get injured, so check the size carefully.

◆Sound Quality
Sound omission is better than canal type and it is natural and easy to hear. All driver units installed in in-ear earphones are "dynamic". The resolution of the sound is better in the canal type, but the sound quality of in-ear earphones is like listening with the speaker right next to your ear.
