■Bass drum

It's no exaggeration to say that it's the heart of a band’s sound. The sound quality changes greatly just by adding one twist.

Setting

Adjust the feet of the bass drum and set the front side to float a little. As a rule of thumb, you should be able to put your fingers under the front. This will prevent the bass drum from vibrating and improve sound leakage.

Mute

By lightly putting muting tape around the hole in the front head, the high-frequency overtones are cut, the bass is increased, and the sound gets thicker. It will also eliminate chattering sounds.

Tuning

When you want to change the sound quality of the bass drum, or when you do not have time to tune from scratch, you can change the sound just by changing the two tunings at the top. As a tip, first adjust the upper two places on the strike side. Try turning the top two lugs 90 ° each and if it is not enough turn the front head as well.

Tighten it to make it sound bright and good, loosening it to make it heavy and dark, so give it a try.

■Tom, floor tom

Mute

When the sound is a bit blurry and bad, it is recommended to use a simple mute that combines duct tape and tissue. There are also gel-type mute sets that can be used again and again.

Resonance

The things to watch out for toms and floor toms are the frequent resonances of bass drums and snares. If you want to mute and make the most of the tom's sound as much as possible, just loosen the tuning a little. This is particularly effective for recording, as it reduces resonance and makes the entire drum's sound loss much better.
