Equipment required for digital DJing and how to connect them

① DJ software

Software that supports music management and playback for DJing. Some can be downloaded for free from the official web page, and some can be downloaded with the purchased serial number. At clubs and events, rekordbox and Serato DJ are popular, and are considered standard.

② DJ controller

It is the core equipment for DJ performance that can play/mix tracks in DJ software with a PC. Some models can be connected to a dynamic microphone for MCing or linked with an expansion pad. Basically, each controller has the software that can support, such as “for rekordbox” and “for Serato DJ Pro”.

③ Monitor headphones

Headphones that DJs use to monitor in preparation for the next song to play. The most popular types are closed type, with a rotatable housing, and with a curl cord.

④ Monitor speaker

For the use of DJ monitoring, the mainstream is "powered type" speakers that can easily work by connecting to the output terminal of the DJ controller. It can also be used as a speaker for the audience in situations where the volume doesn’t need to be high, such as at home parties.

⑤ USB cable (PC-DJ / expansion controller)

Cable that connects PC and DJ controller. Generally, DJ controllers are equipped with a USB type B input, but be sure to check the controller and PC terminals in advance.
