How to make a microphone cable

Microphone cable types

There are two general connector types used for the microphone cables: XLR (female)-XLR (male) and XLR (female)-standard phone type.

XLR (female)-XLR (male)

For condenser microphones, use a cable that has a combination of the male XLR connector, also called a canon, and the female XLR connector. This cable is also necessary to send phantom power to the microphone. Because it does not easily come off, it is often used even with dynamic microphones.

XLR (female)-standard phone type

Mainly used for dynamic microphone connections. Some devices require only this type of input terminal, so please check in advance.

※ CLASSIC PRO's microphone cables are recommended because they have a thick coating to enhance stage durability.

Important point

The mic input of a mixer or recording device is often either an XLR (female) or a standard phone (female). When selecting a microphone cable, it is necessary to select according to the shape of the microphone input terminal of the device being connected to.
