Jargar is a string manufacturer founded in the 1950s by Jarl Hansen, a cellist with the Royal Danish Opera Orchestra. Hansen conducted extensive research in pursuit of a warm, bright tone that offered superior durability and stability compared to traditional gut strings, and he established his own company in 1956. At a time when gut strings were the norm, he developed an innovative string by winding precious metals around a high-quality steel core, creating a string that combined stable intonation with a warm, rich tone. For cello strings, their exceptional playability and brilliant sound have earned them strong support from professional and amateur players worldwide for many years.
