RADIAL / Space Heater

RADIAL / Space Heater is an 8-channel tube overdrive that can be used as a stereo summing mixer or multi-channel studio distortion. It can be summed from your audio interface to an analog track, or applied to each channel as a hardware insert.

■8 x balanced line inputs
There are 8 +4dBu balanced line level inputs, and stereo processing is performed by 4 12AX7 vacuum tubes. Operation is performed by pairs of channels |1/2||3/4||5/6||7/8|.

■Controls
The HEAT switch on each pair allows you to select the plate voltage (35V｜70V｜140V). Low voltages are prone to distortion and result in intense distortion, while high voltages add natural vacuum tube warmth and harmonics.

Each channel has DRIVE and LEVEL controls to fine-tune the effect. The transformer creates a solid sound, and isolation eliminates noise. The vacuum tube circuit can be bypassed, so you can output a vintage sound using only a transformer.

■Input/Output Terminals/Link Terminals
Inputs are balanced 1/4-inch TRS and D-Sub (DB25), loops are balanced 1/4-inch send and receive, outputs are XLR (L/R) and D-Sub (DB25), and there are also link terminals (IN/OUT) with other Space Heaters.

■Use for various purposes
When used as four stereo pairs, it can be used as a mixer for stem mixes or to make the sound of in-ear monitors more pleasant to listen to. The stereo XLR terminals (L/R) on the rear panel output odd channels from the L terminal and even channels from the R terminal. If 8 inputs are not enough, you can increase the number of inputs to |16||24||32| by linking multiple units. It is also equipped with a high-pass filter, so you can easily remove unnecessary low frequencies.
