The playback sound produced by a speaker varies significantly depending on whether it produces beautiful resonance or merely noise. The ""ES Series"" uses birch plywood from Northern Europe and appropriate bracing to control the enclosure's subtle sounds for a beautiful resonance. The paint itself also plays a major role in the enclosure's resonance. The ""Premium Edition"" not only employs a simple piano finish, but also incorporates tuning that optimizes the sound-absorbing treatment behind the tweeter diaphragm to address changes in the enclosure's resonance due to changes in the paint. As with the ""AR Series,"" we've thoroughly focused on ensuring high rigidity and resonance control for the speaker enclosure. The enclosure, including the internal reinforcement, is made of birch plywood from Northern Europe. This material combines moderate internal loss and strength, resulting in the distinctive, clear resonance of speakers grown in cold climates. 36mm birch plywood is used for the baffle board. Its strong rigidity and moderate internal loss allow it to absorb the powerful vibrations of the unit. These materials are carefully assembled using Japan's world-renowned woodworking techniques. The joining method, joining direction, adhesives used, and fitting accuracy are all carefully considered, and the enclosure's resonance is beautifully controlled through assembly using high-precision processing. ■ The ""I-ARRAY™ System"" Achieves Natural, Wide Directivity
The tweeter section employs the ""I-ARRAY™ System,"" consisting of a 25mm soft-dome main tweeter and two 19mm soft-dome tweeters supporting it. The higher the frequency a speaker unit handles, the narrower its directivity becomes, a characteristic that is physically determined by the unit's diameter. The narrower the diameter, the wider the directivity, but this tends to lack the sound pressure required for a large, floor-standing system. For this reason, the use of three units—a main tweeter and two assist tweeters—ensures wide directivity and sufficient sound pressure. To ensure the three tweeters function as a single sound source, the appropriate placement, frame shape, and mounting depth were meticulously designed. This system took a year to develop, involving repeated computer simulations, measurements, and listening tests. By incorporating the natural musical reproduction afforded by wide directivity, it reproduces expressive, vibrant music.
